Hairmyres Hospital is a district general hospital in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The hospital serves one of the largest elderly populations in Scotland.The hospitalHairmyres Hospital, simply known as "Hairmyres" by local residents, is a private finance initiative (PFI) hospital located in East Kilbride, Scotland. The new hospital buildings were built by the Kier Group, costing £67.5 million and having an accompanying contract for 30 years. Building work began in May 1988 and completed by February 2001. Services were moved into the new building in March 2001 and the hospital officially opened by Henry McLeish in September 2001.Hairmyres Hospital serves patients in the South Lanarkshire catchment area. It is one of three acute hospitals in NHS Lanarkshire. The hospital has 492 inpatient beds and 20 day beds, employing 2500 members of staff. Services include 24-hour Accident and Emergency, General Medicine, Oncology, Psychiatry, Care of the Elderly, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, and Vascular Surgery.

Easy to get to from East Kilbride, lots of choices of buses to the main entrance. Helpful staff at the atrium information desk. Nice Costa cafe but not enough seating. Nice airy corridors. Pleasant staff throughout. Seen quickly and sent on my way.
A packed A&E and Leah was the most amazing nurse. So patient, professional and caring. Can’t thank her enough for looking after my dad and I today 9/9/24
I cannot exaggerate my thanks to the staff of ward 13/9 for the care that I received from them during my stay with them over the last week. I have never been so well cared for. They were professional and thorough in their approach without losing a bit of humanity and thoughtfullness. I hope I don’t have any need to see you anytime soon but I know that I will be in safe hands if I ever do. Thank you also to the staff in A&E and the admission ward for looking after me until I was transferred .
Took my dad who has dementia here today after a fall, they seen him quickly and went out of their way to treat him with empathy and really listened to him. In and out in under an hour compared to 9 and a half at qeuh. Amazing young nurse, receptionist and doctor.
The catering facilities for visitors are an absolute joke, no coffee shop after 5pm. The restaurant menus so uninspiring that folk walk in see what's on menu and walk straight back out, then it's hardly open at weekend, wishaw hospital restaurant is open 7 to 7, and their coffee shop is similar and sells hot snacks. They also take cash. Come on Hairmyres get Ur act together.
The staff here cannot be faulted. High level of care, professionalism and genuinely do the best for their patients. Couldn't have asked for better level of care than I received today at A&E. Thank you.
Well organised regional hospital with an A&E department. I attended a follow up clinic today and was seen quickly by very professional staff. Good restaurant, Costa coffee shop and a small shop selling drinks, sandwiches and confectionery run by Volunteer Service.
Firstly a big THANKS to the Rapid Clinic for seeing me,I was almost 6 months over my scheduled appointment at Monklands,which was cancelled twice. Bright and welcoming reception desk good signage and lifts to departments. Only disappointment was the cold food in the Restaraunt £14 for 1 baked potatoe and tuna and portion of vegetable curry which was tastless.
Had my carotid artery operation on Thursday the 22nd of August 2024. I would like to pass on my thanks and gratitude to Helena and Grace on the night shift , Emma on day shift and all other staff involved in my care in HDU. Also Dr. Vesey and staff who carried out the vascular surgery. I have nothing but praise to all staff for the care given to me. Thanks.
In 2022 I was unfortunate to be in hospital 3 times. The first two times I was so impressed by the professionalism, care and dedications of the nursing staff and doctors. The third time less so. I was prescribed a medication that affected me horribly i still haven't fully recovered. One nurse was incredibly horrible, dismissive and didn't take it remotely seriously and actively told me I wasn't feeling the things I was. Some of the other staff were very good but 1 or 2 others followed this person's lead and that creates a culture of bad practise. Having read a few reviews I wonder if this is the same person as one or two others have mentioned. This person should not be allowed to be in this profession she was callous and rude and imo will be incredibly dangerous for future patient's with her dismissive attitude.
