The place has style, without being off putting, or flash. The food is excellent and well presented. The staff are excellent, the beer rather good, in a seeming endless variety. The gin selection extensive, very a la mode. Just remember to book, it is safer, not too cramped weekdays early evening, but it fills up.

Really enjoyed our visit - the food was excellent, both tasty and well presented. The menu is varied without being over bearing. The mac and cheese with beef brisket was fantastic. Service was quite slow but this would not put me off coming back for the food.

I took two friends there today to celebrate their birthdays. It was Friday lunchtime so we chose from the lunchtime specials. The food was lovely, really good. Served fairly promptly and it arrived hot. Good service in that respect. HOWEVER - we asked quite a few times if the music could be turned down as it was loud and raucous. I can understand loud music at the beginning of service perhaps, or definitely at night with a cocktail bar vibe going on, but we were there from about 1:15 onwards and it seemed to get louder and louder. The young man behind the bar insisted he had turned it down each time we asked but he clearly hadn’t. We would go back, together or separately with other friends if not for this issue. We all like music, but we also like conversation.

First time at the Griffins Head on New Years eve. The food and service was lovely. The staff very accommodating, we asked could we move tables due to the music/speaker being above us - husband problem with hearing. When a table became vacant the waitress moved us. The food was excellent, will definitely return in the New Year.
