absolutely adore this little venue! every member of staff was a delight to maintain interaction with & very quick paced regarding food delivery time; decor was beautifully designed especially their menu & the variety of drink/food is very well crafted. pricing wise, it's phenomenal for one share starter, two mains & three drinks for 60 pounds is such great value, i always tip also i must say the garden area is wonderfully modelled i do enjoy fairy lights with a sip of wine
Quick service at the bar, and the waitress service is excellent the food is well cooked with a few gluten free options. Ample parking and also a large separate function room for private events . One way it could be improved by having a couple of real ales on draught. A very good pub....Service: 5/5
Always best to book a table as it does get busy at times. Food is better than average pub food. Service is friendly, polite and prompt. A mix of modern and brick and wood old style decor. Wheelchair user friendly. I can't rate the rooms as we didn't stay over. Nearby activities: Markeaton Park. Safety: Set on a busy road but outdoor space has a car park between garden and the road. Function room available for hire too. Overlooks fields at the back of the garden.
Called in as a group of 4. Not local to the area & all tables were reserved. I can only assume it was the manager but a lovely lady seated us and we had the loveliest meal with fantastic wine! Great service, lovely atmosphere top job.Rooms: 5/5
used to enjoy eating at the Great Northern but at my recent visit I was shocked at how conveyor belt the food had become. Overall an average at best meal below quality for money standard. My burger was tiny, my partners quiche had been microwaved not baked. So very disappointed after so many previous fabulous meals. What had happened? Complaincy due to popularity? No better than a chain like say chef and brewer.
Had a meal for Father's day. Steak, was nice, but luke warm. We were a large group. Staff chose to chat at the end of the bar, opposite our table about all sorts! Lol. Maybe not appropriate
Often have lunch at this pub but recently found out they offer breakfast every day 10 until 12. Relativly small menu but full English large or small on offer as well as smaller offerings such as bacon sandwich etc. We had small English which was excellent, good quality well cooked and presented. Very reasonably priced would recommend.
Visited here for a family meal. Great choice of food and drinks. Service was good and tentative. Although it was very busy food came out at a good rate and we were checked on regualy to see if we were OK.Service: 5/5
Lovely food marred by the rude and petulant behaviour of one of the staff - a scowling bearded guy who literally threw both the mains and deserts on the table. He was like a hormonal teenager who had just been told he was grounded for a week. This utterly charmless individual was also rude to my mother in law when she was paying the bill. We have been a few times, but are reluctant to return if this is the service on offer.
Forgot to take a photo of the place, however it had a chilled feel about it for a meal with friends. What I can say is the food was superb the mixed grill wiped me out! and the service was excellent too. Prices were very reasonable, good range of beer, although they need a pilsner! Very worth a visit if you are after a bite to eat.
