Absolutely brilliant! We stumbled over this place and glad to find it be the best chef and brewer we have been in so far! Heidi looked after us so well, she was friendly and efficient but when we asked about the no leaf salad, the Chef Jo came out of the kitchen and talked us through the menu and was so knowledgeable and friendly! Not only that, the food was the best prepared we have had yet in any chef and brewer! She clearly knows what she’s doing in the kitchen and it shines through. I’d love to have a meal prepared by her again soon! All this and they are dog friendly! Keep it up.
We visited the Mundy Arms after meeting with family at Markeaton Park for a catch up. My dad had his dog and I had my young toddler with me. The pub is warm and welcoming with a friendly team. We visited on Easter Sunday so they were only serving their Easter Sunday menu. For a chef and brewer, I’ve never seen this before just a new one for me as I’m more acquainted with the other brands within Greene King. My toddler shared some of my meal as he’s not got quite the appetite for a whole meal but we had another child on the table who ordered from the kids menu. All the food was served quickly and was lovely. However there were a couple of downsides to our visit. Despite bringing some books of our own, to entertain my son with, the kids menus were taken away and we were left with crayons but nothing to colour on. Apparently there was colouring in on the kids menus. The other small issue we had was that the children’s dessert was served late nearly all the adults had finished theirs. She was given an extra flake and the staff were very kind about it all but usually the kids desserts are served first to save them waiting? I’d still recommend here, though as I live in Worcestershire, it’ll be a while before I’m able to return!
When I first looked up this chef and brewer pub I thought it looked a bit uninviting from the outside, nearly considered going somewhere else. But I then googled pictures and saw the inside, it looked lovely and friendly and inviting, so we decided to give it a try. Well all I can say is wow, just wow. The staff were really polite and helpful and the food…….well, the food was just amazing. I ordered the sharing Camembert cheese board for starters, it was huge. Others in the party ordered the Korean chicken strips, this was so big it was like a main, it was great. For mains I ordered the belly of pork which was presented really posh and fancy and tasted great, again others in our party ordered the burger, it was a monster of a burger, which again tasted great. The desserts were just as good. We wasn’t hurried in any way, nor did we have to wait ages for our food either, I just wish all restaurants were as good as this one. If I didn’t live so far away I would definitely visit here loads more times. Well done and keep the good work up.
Visited on a Sunday. Fair few people there for the time of day which was just after lunch and before dinner time. Served promptly at the bar, good range of beers. Table was clean as was the establishment itself. I was pointed to the specials board which I took a photo of and was very tempting. Table service was excellent, nothing was to much trouble for the lad who served us. My partner wanted to change some of the veg and this was done without any fuss at all. He even came later on to put another log on the fire. We were lucky with where we sat and it was very cosy. There was four of us in the group and we all had food. Partners Dad and Stepmum had the Steak pie and Chicken pie which they both enjoyed and was very tasty. I had the Risotto with Sea Bass and prawns. The fish was and prawns were good, the risotto was as it should be but a little bland. My partner had the three meat dinner which she thought was fine but would have been happier if the meat had been cut from a joint rather than pre-sliced. Very reasonably priced and if I'm in the area again would definitely consider visiting the establishment again whether to eat or for a drink.
An absolutely lovely place to visit with a little bit off added countryside at the back. The food was lovely and the staff were very welcoming and polite. They still provide a table service which is great but you can also relax at the bar. They do both lunch time and evening menus with a variety of foods definitely worth a try
Lovely quiet atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff, beautiful food at very reasonable prices, nice selection of drinks including some very tasty mocktails. Very much enjoyed our little dinner date. The pudding tasted fresh and not microwaved stodge like most places. Would absolutely recommend.
Food was lovely! Portion sizes spot on! Service was lacking, we had a friendly server to start with but she must have finished at 5pm because after this we were forgotten about, our first server ordered our desserts around 4:45, we didn't receive them until around 5:15 then we finally had a check back and paid up at 5:45, wouldn't mind if it was busy but there was only us and one other table that came in just after 5pm in the whole pub. But, the main reason to dine is for food and the food was lovely!
Great looking pub, staff were really friendly and whats more they served gluten free speckled hen. Would have gone back in the evening, but heavy storm kept me and my dog honey at our bbFood: 5/5
Food was fantastic, the service was great and it was good value for money. The lamb pie I ordered was especially good. Would definitely recommend.
4.5* The staff were very friendly, popped in without a booking for a quick meal on the way home and seated without any issues. Food was good overall and the price was reasonable. Used Tesco CC vouchers with no issues.
