Being a local, independent bike shop just around the corner from my parents house, I really want to love this shop. A good local shop usually provides a great, friendly service and should be a place where the customer feels truly valued. Unfortunately every time I visit Global Esprit I feel severely disappointed. The attitude of the staff is extremely unfriendly, as if customers are a nuisance. Being able to offer great service is what sets apart local shops from the big online retailers, and is their strongest asset in keeping customers and doing good business. This is completely lacking in this shop, giving absolutely no reason to choose this shop over another. I would consider myself to be highly proficient in bicycle mechanics, and well aware of what is a reasonable charge. I was recently servicing my mother's bike, and didn't have the tool to undo the crank bolts. I popped into the shop, asking for them to be removed barely a 30 second job and was quoted £10! Thankfully I know better and walked out the shop. Terrible service, a total lack of enthusiasm and what I would frankly deem an exploitation of customers' lack of knowledge make this a shop to avoid at all costs.
The service in this place is really unfriendly and it always seems a lot pricier than other places. The few times I've been in as I've been in the need of a part or accessory with no time to go further afield, it's been really unpleasant. I would recommend avoiding and going elsewhere if I were you.
We left a bike there for repair before Christmas. It now seems permanently shut and the telephone number doesn't work. We need to get our bike back!
