I'm really sorry to post a review like this, but it has to be said, especially with the amount of 5 star reviews. The food wasn't anything special, nor was the ambiance and lighting. As for the food, the prawn cocktail starter was served in a beer glass with half a bottle of cocktail sauce over it, too much in my opinion. The chips served with the main courses were undercookedfried. The steak and beer battered cod were ok. The desserts were disappointing, old cheese served on a regular diner plate instead of on a wooden board, sticky toffee pudding with no sticky sauce, Cappuccino with a large cup of brown sugar with which you can bake a cake. Depending on your dining preferences, this could be OK for you. To be honest I wouldn't go here if I knew what I know now. Vegetarian options: Vegie lasagna Parking: In front of the building on the street.
Booked a table for 8 for a birthday meal. Everyone enjoyed their meals, home cooked , fresh and plenty of vegetables on the side. The hotpot I had was delicious. The service was very friendly and they even decorated the table with a Happy Birthday. We went back the next day for Sunday lunch and that was delicious too. I would highly recommend a meal here.
Came across this lovely local pub when we stayed in the village during half term. The quiz on Tuesday night was brilliant, raising money for local charities with free sandwiches and chips during the interval. Lovely patio backing onto the river enabled us to drink outside and watch the geese and ducks. Didn't have a meal but the menu looked good. Local musicians jamming on Friday night was also a pleasure to watch and listen to.
Excellent food very friendly staff excellent service. Definitely will be visiting again
Managed to fit us in at short notice for dinner. Lovely meal and great service. I had the Melon and sorbet to start, monk fish and mussels for the main and rhubarb and ginger crumble. It was delicious.
Fantastic, quirky pub, which is much bigger than it looks from the outside and leads all the way back to the river. I was well looked-after and served chips past the closing time of the kitchen, which were proper and hand-cut. Guinness wasn't poured correctly in one go but the landlady friendly and accommodating. Could happily spend the day here.
On of the best pubs I've been in, food is outstanding but not overly priced, choice of where to sit, lovely friendly staff.....you should definitely go there Food: 5/5
Very nice Sunday lunch. The roast beef was cooked perfectly and the vegetables were fantastic. The food was served hot on the plate and the service was very good. I would recommend this place.
