This is a superb find tucked away in a corner of Cockermouth. The front entrance is tiny but the restaurant stretches far back. Spacious with friendly professional staff, you get excellent service while also feeling a good degree of privacy. The venue and food are both quite posh but our stomachs were well and truly filled. The pizza was delicious and the steak done to perfection. The onion rings so difficult to do well without being horribly greasy were superb here. My own criticism was that I didn't think much of the garlic bread which was so thin crust that there was hardly anything to it. It was tasty enough but the least of all we had to eat. I do highly recommend their bottle of Merlot though. Absolutely delicious. We polished it off!
Went there for a company meal and the service was great. Friendly staff and tasty food.
Really good food, generous amount of lamb on the roast was very nice. Pre order system worked well, would recommend. Will be back soon.
Really enjoyed the delicious food at Frederick’s, especially their garlic mushrooms and salmon in a lemon and dill butter. It’s a must visit if you are in Cockermouth.
Very good quality food, but my only concern would be the small sizes of some of the dish's. The salmon pasta dish of one of our group was tiny, and she was left hungry. Luckily, there was some left over pizza from another one of the group, or it would have been a bit of a disaster. I loved my king prawns starter, and my special burger main, but again, a couple of slices of bread would have been nice to accompany the starter as it had loads of lovely chilly dressing left in the bowel screaming out to be soaked up I would still 100% recommend though
Great looking place when initially entering. The back room however feels cold, both physical and emotional. The service was friendly and helpful. The food was lovely presented. I had a meat platter which came on a wooden plank. Everything however, was deep fried. Not a bit of garnish or green. Probably OK as a sharing platter with a drink, but not as a main course. Desert few bits out of a packet given a name it didn't deserve. Overpriced and poor quality.
Love the fact they now do a "small plate" rather than "starter" menu. It meant we could enjoy a smaller portion and add a side dish, and still have room for desert, without feeling like we were being cheapskates. Lovely service. Only drawback was we didn't realize it was cash only for the first 2 weeks under new management, but the cash machine at Sainsburys was only 20 yards away across the road.
Ate here last week and never again. Came with the girls for a Christmas dinner. The turkey was dry and curled at the edges. And some of the veg too hard tomato eat. Potatoes werent fresh , tasted like Smash. Everything tasted bland and fatty. All the turkey went back and was replaced with a nice plate of fresh turkey which should have been served in the first place. It was so cold in there we ate with our coats on as did the table next to us. We complained about it being so cold and asked for the heater over the front door to be switched on but they said no. And when the red wine came it was as cold as the room and coukdnt have been colder if it had come out of the fridge. And as we were complaining to a member of staff they just turned and walked away. Next time we go out we will definitely be going elsewhere in town, Cockermouth has lots of lovely places to eat, this is one to avoid.
I enjoyed my pizza and the staff was really kind
Impromptu stop for food whilst passing though on a Sunday evening and was one of the only places that was open and looked appealing. The venue is nice enough they were accommodating and and the pizza and and burger were good and service was fast. It satisfied the pit stop we needed it to on route.
