After being let down for a Sunday roast across the road from here we decided to have a dinner in here at 13.15 instead. We were told there was a 45 minute wait so we agreed and ordered 3 cokes and 3 roast beef dinners when ready. Then we were told there was no roast beef only turkey. Beggars belief !! ?? so we left and got MC donalds . Shouldn't have left Blackpool HaHa,Ha.
Most of the food seemed like it had been cooked for slightly too long, and took a while to arrive.nnToilets aren't something I'd usually comment on, but the gents toilets here really need a good clean. They are not pleasant
I had lunch here mid week, fairly quiet. I really struggled to work out what else I would have needed not to give 5 stars, staff were very helpful and polite, food was cooked to perfection tasted great with good but not overbearing sized portions. The pub lets you take dogs in. I am visiting again with a family party and the pub have offered to reserve seats for us. Great place.
My wife and I had Sunday lunch here today. We're new to Penwortham and had been recommended the Fleece as a nice pub. First impressions were that the building was quite tatty and in urgent need of a refurbishment. The window frames were peeling and cracking. Several window units had blown so you couldn't see out of them. The radiators were on full blast in spite of being a summer's day. It was oppressively hot inside, we guessed pushing 30 centigrade so decided to eat outside. The furniture outside was dirty tired and damaged like the interior. We ordered two duo Sunday lunches which included both turkey and beef. They arrived 30 minutes later served by a polite and helpful staff member. She said she'd just started. The menu said we'd get seasonal vegetables plural but only received two sprigs of broccoli. The meat was tasty as was the Yorkshire pudding and stuffing. However the roast potatoes were hard in the middle and the cauliflower cheese was also undercooked. The lunches were served on small plates and cost £13.49 each which are expensive for what we received. Other pub chains offer much better value. The toilets were also in poor condition and smelt. All in all we were disappointed with our experience. The waitress said she'd tell the manager but he didn't approach us to deal with our concerns. Greene King seriously need to do some quality checking because on our experience today, the pub needs a thorough refurb and the chef's quality needs close supervision. Disappointing and poor value.
Called into The Fleece last evening, 10/02/25 as a group of us do on a Tuesday. As a none alcohol drinker I asked for my usual pot of tea. I was told by one chap we stop serving tea after a certain time, the other chap said he had put the cleaning chemical into the machine so couldnt use it. I have been told this before by same chaps. Have they heard that to make a pot of tea you can boil a kettle!!! We walked out. Lets see what next week brings as i always get my tea when the girls are serving.
