This is my Go To Fish and Chip Shop I would go to in Penwortham.Tried a few others in Penwortham & Lock stock Hall.Feel this one deserves 5.Never been disappointed with the food I ordered from here.
Amazing sausage and chips and fish. Gravy was amazing and the curry sauce was fruity but brilliant. Quickest service I've ever had, staff were amazing. Might be my new local chip shop. 10/10
I'm editing my review from last year because I've just been in to get fish and chips for the first time since that review and it looks like the place has had an overhaul. I'm just eating fish chips peas and curry sauce now and it's absolutely beautiful nnGodwin's used to be the best place around for fish and chips. There were very few people there and I wondered why. However when we got home we soon realised exactly why - it was probably one of the worst fish and chips we had. The whole meal was cold very salty, no vinegar, the chips were very small, more like bits, and the cheese and onion pie was about an inch thick. The fish was stuck to the paper so when I tried to put it on the plate it all fell apart in pieces. Even the sausage I got for the dogs was cold. I would have brought it back but I couldn't be bothered and we wouldn't have been offered anything better anyway. No wonder there was no queue. I would just like to add it was a disgrace that we had to wait outside in the cold when there was plenty of room away from the hatch where you had to order and there were no customers there anyway!
Use to be my go to fish and chip shop when I lived in the area, and still try and make a stop when I'm around, but severely disappointed with my service today.nDon't bother pre ordering, it doesn't mean you get your order quicker. Went in through the signposted door for collection and then stood there for 5 to 10 minutes while they served everyone else and including lots of people that came in after me. It wasn't even busy. Very nearly gave up and went to the back of the normal queue as I was being completely ignored.nI then got home and opened my cheesy chips to see a really long lovely green hair in my melted cheese, which also happened to be the hair colour of the woman on the till. They should be wearing hair nets. I should have taken it back but instead will be avoiding this place in the future.
Piping hot fish and chips good service value for money would thoroughly recommend this fish & chip shop delicious
