This morning I took my daughter for an appointment to have two fillings. She had traveled all the way from uni in Plymouth especially for this. Due to bad weather, unreliable public transport and rush-hour traffic it was obvious we weren't going to make it on time. Out of courtesy, I phoned and left a message on their answering service to let them know we would be around 10 minutes late. We arrived just after 9.10 and were left in the waiting room for 10 minutes. At 9.20 the dental nurse came out and told us we would have to re-book as there was only 10 minutes left of our appointment. We pretty much pleaded with them, explaining my daughter's long journey, (not to mention the waste of a 70 quid train fare!), transport issues the fact we had been sitting there for 10 minutes etc. but she just would not budge. Even the lovely receptionist tried to speak up for us. In the end they took her x-rays at my daughter's request but refused to do the fillings. I have been with the practice for at least 20 years, my children their whole lives and we have often arrived on time only to wait half an hour before being seen, yet have never complained. In fact, on my last visit, we were seen 20 minutes late because the dentist was on the phone sorting out her broken boiler! I have lost all faith in this practice. The trust has been broken and I cannot have someone I don't trust messing around in my mouth. I will be looking for another dentist.
