Other than the Avocet Line being beautiful, there is not much going for this station. Only slow trains depart from here, and the air conditioning on the trains often doesn’t work. Trains only run to Paignton and back, and to get to Exeter there are 9 stops so it’s almost quicker to drive.
This station could have improvements. Trains are packed from 4-8pm and impossible to breath. Trains are very expensive. No direct trains to Plymouth or Barnstaple. Trains to Paignton only go once an hour. They have to improve the frequency of Trains to Paignton and Exeter.
Matt at the till was really helpful and pleasant. I was stressed when the ticket machine wouldn’t print my prepaid tickets because I didn’t have the same physical card I’d used to pay. But Matt was able to print them quickly, no problem!
My sister wants to say how impressed by the cheerful and sympathetic service she received from Matt, he was so helpful and accommodating in sorting out her problem when she lost her return ticket and senior railcard. Many, many thanks.
Good train stations, doesn't have a coffee shop but there are coffee shops less than a 10 minute walk away and trains are quite frequent
