Great little town just repairing things after all the recent bad weather & storms.
Very good train station, never had any problems here. Added bonus is it is set within 5 minutes walk of the town centre.
Well worth a visit by train.nAs you come out of the station you can walk along the sea front to the tunnel.nNo places to have coffee as it was on a windy rainy morning and out of season.nIn town plenty of places to see, have food and coffee.
went there yesterday with my husband who is partially disabled and our 16 yr old dog. nightmare. one member of staff certainly needs a customer care course, and maybe to do some work, found him surly and very unhelpful, struggled to get on and off the train step far too high, no help whatsoever, a bit different to paignton station where they couldnt of been more helpful.
Teignmouth was my local station from the day I was born until I moved away at the age of 21, and I have many fond memories of it. The station is very well suited for the town and beach, being less than 500 yards from the sea and the town centre. There are also good parking facilities and a useful bus interchange for services up the hill to the residential parts of town and to Bishopsteignton.nnThe station is indeed one of Britain's more quirky stations, in that its largely compressed into a towering cutting. However, this is one of the downsides as it becomes quite dull and gloomy during winter - perhaps a bit scary for some. Services could also do with an improvement, as currently there are only hourly services towards Exeter and Torquay regularly, two-hourly services to Plymouth and Bristol irregularly, and infrequent services to London, Birmingham and the North.nnOtherwise, I recommend that if you're visiting Teignmouth, do it by train - driving and parking in the town is a hassle even on a good day. :
