Great car and service, the staff were so helpful, as sometimes can be difficult getting timing right for pick up, travelling from Isles of scilly. Highly recommended by me, have used them twice over the last few months, will be back.
Terrible experience, avoid Europcar at all costs. We rented a 5-seat car online, weeks before going to Penzance for a short holiday and were shocked to find out on the first day that our booking had been cancelled without any notice or our consent! The Europcar Penzance branch representative could not help at all and insisted that we "contact customer support", indicating a highly-micromanaged and broken chain of responsibilities within the organisation. There were also no cars available at all throughout Cornwall at that time and we had to give up renting a car for our trip. As a result, we had to carry all our bags see Figure 2 around Cornwall throughout the trip and get by with local bus and taxi services. An excessive amount of money and time were wasted, not to mention the inconvenience of carrying all that stuff with us whilst we went surfing and hiking. 2 days into our trip, a representative from their technical team, presumably their software engineering division, contacted us and informed us that our booking had been cancelled due to a software issue. This is a shocking mistake to make as such a large business and indicates the poor quality of their codebase and lack of robust software testing done before deploying services to clients. I would have expected a highly customer-facing and serving business to be more accountable to their own mistakes. No compensation or attempt to rectify their mistakes were made, reflecting poorly on their company culture. Our message for Europcar: if you don't rectify this within our specified time frame indicated in our complaint letter that we will send to your customer services team very soon, we will file complaints with the appropriate consumer agencies and consider taking legal action. To anyone reading this, again, avoid Europcar at all costs unless there is a complete transformation within the organisation in the future.

Had a good experience picking up and dropping off a rental car during my week in Penzance. It is a small office so there was a small wait to pick up my car, but the process itself and returning the car was smooth. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Brilliant professional friendly depot and the fact they have a Saturday drop your key off box is perfect! We shall be using you for all our future car hires. Good competitive rates, spotless cars. Enterprise ‘the other company’ have lost out with us now.
Edit: I want to take the time to provide an update. My rating has been updated to reflect my post-rental experience. The manager of Europcar Penzance was impressively proactive in addressing my issue detailed below and took steps to ensure that I was refunded for this charge. Though there was a small administrative hiccup that meant that I only received the refund last week, everything worked out in the end. I look forward to doing business with Europcar in future. Watch out for this scam. We picked up our car without any issue. When we returned it a few days later, the lady noted that the rear "luggage cover" was missing and charged us £112+£40 admin fee. There never was a luggage cover. She said it was our responsibility to notice that it was missing. We had never opened the boot and have a picture from 2 hours after we picked it up showing that it isn't there. Charged us anyway. Obviously going to dispute, but what a pain!
Terrible experience. Now stranded in Penzance as Europcar just cancelled our booking at the last minute due to no cars being available. Booked over a month ago. How do you make plans if at the whims of car availability Europcar can cancel the booking?
Booked a car from Europcar Penzance on Monday. I just have to say the lady that arranged our booking in the office sorry didn't catch your name was absolutely brilliant. She helped us find the most economical price and was extremely helpful. Thank you
