All the main car rental firms including Europecar are in the long stay car park so you have to get the free shuttle bus from the airport terminal. The car was OK and what I was expecting and was clean and damage free. However, 2 problems. The car had a quirk when starting it which was not explained when I collected it and had to speak to the RAC to resolve what appeared to be an intermittent problem. More seriously I was charged for an extra days rental when I had in fact returned the vehicle 3 hours early . This only came to light when I was emailed the return statement. Fortunately calls to Europcar customer service resolved the matter and i received a refund. But the motto is check your invoice and return statement very carefully
Claimed we took a luggage cover, we didn't. There was no one to receive us when we took it back, we had to post the keys in a box, so no kne is there to check the car. Like magic we get a letter, weeks later of course telling us we've taken the luggage cover, what do we need one of those for? Any way some more weeks pass and we get another letter, mysteriously dated weeks ago but only received a couple of days ago, telling us they are entitled to take whatever they deem is the cost of the damage in 14 days, of course , those 14 days were long since passed, by about 1 week, and lo and behold I look at my credit card statement we've been stuffed to the tune of £152. Came out about a week ago, of course, I had no warning, the letter dated 14/10 only arrived yesterday 7/11. You might think you are dealing with a professional company, but you'd be wrong. If you have to deal with these people, take pictures of everything, I mean EVERYTHING!, in fact record a video, there's a chance you might need it to avoid being screwed.
Great service. Needed a car for a journey from one town to another. Europcar unlike other companies did not hike the price. Was greeted with a friendly face in ghetto office. Car I requested was not available at time of pick up but was given a free upgrade. Staff at drop off site also very good. Would and will use Europcar again
Possibly the worst customer service I have received in years. Booked and pre paid a 4 door Astra type vehicle as I was visiting family who are of an age and needed reasonable access to the back. Upon arrival I was told all they had left was a 2 door Corsa which I had no option but to take, this is a 2 door cheaper rental, was assured the manager who was not in would call me that day and at least sort out a refund on the difference, unsurprisingly a call did not take place. I called them the following day and again the manager was again not in but was again promised a call to sort it out. This did not happen. I left it 2 further days and called the head office who could not assist me until the rental period had ended! But opened a case file. 2 days later I returned the vehicle and asked to speak to the manager who again was not in great job. Called the head office the following day and spoke to someone who said he could not assist me as it was with a case handler but he would walk down the corridor to chat to them. I asked if I could be put through to be told that they don’t speak to the public!! Off he duly popped to have his chat and returned to say the matter was being dealt with and I should hear from them in a couple of days or by the end of the week. They could not deal with it any earlier as they have a lot of complaints to attend to apparently! Sort of sums them up. So from taking a booking they could not fulfil, not refunding the difference, getting zero returns of calls from our mythical manager, to a head office claims manager who can’t speak to unimportant folk like customers my whole experience with europcar has been appalling. As a last point the car itself was clean inside but the bodywork left a lot to be desired with over 38,000 miles on the clock. Take what you will from this and should you book a rental through them I’d wish you well, indeed if the manager of the Leeds Bradford airport branch is about wish him well from me, good luck with that one!!
Hi all I rented a vehicle from Europcar who are no longer located at the airport but at a car rental centre after a stressful flight I had been dropped off by shuttle bus to the car rental centre where I mistakenly booked at Avis. I booked a vehicle but they did not have my size vehicle which I then tried Europcar I was greeted by a young man who was on his training period who then showed me the true definition of customer service he was a very respectful person who then helped me to choose the right size vehicle which was fantastic he then helped me and my mrs with my luggage and helped me load it into the vehicle he then checked the vehicle for any extra damage and explained every control in detail and I then was on my way to start my holiday. When I returned the vehicle the weather was terrible where the young man greeted me with a smile in the rain he helped me with my luggage and helped me to the shuttle bus stop. I would HIGHLY recommend Europcar to anyone good luck with the job see you next year.
First of all you are met at the Arrivals Area with the shutters down on the Europcar desk and a typed note stuck to the shutter advising there is a now a Car Hire Service Area offsite and to make your way to a shuttle bus to which drops passengers at the long stay car parks and they will drop you off too! So we queued for the shuttle and found no one at the Europcar desk all other company desks were being seen too We queued for a while and then realised the two men over in the designated smoking area were the two who should have been at our desk. Why they couldn't take it in turns to smoke is beyond me. Then the fiasco began, we don't have any cars, if you want to wait an hour or two till one comes back or maybe tomorrow. It's not our fault, we don't make the reservations. I was told they could not help or compensate me in any way and that was that. The older man of the two was so arrogant and condescending The younger one handed me back my confirmation slip and told me had had cancelled my booking and I would receive a credit back onto my card. We had travelled to Leeds for a family funeral and could not hang around hoping for a car to show up. The next desk AVIS felt so sorry for us that THEY called a taxi to get us to our destination. Terrible service, no concern or help offered. Shame on you Europcar. Disgraceful behaviour. I have just received my refund, five weeks later. Not impressed.
Total crooks. This is the second time that I have been conned out of money by Europcar, last year at Gatwick the clerk informed me I had to pay a a personal damage insurance which I was told was mandatory as a new law had come into place which cost me an extra £168. Which I later found out is not true at all!!!! I flew to Leeds Bradford this year June 30th 2019 I told the young clerk I didn’t need any extra insurance as I have CDW on my credit card , he informed me that there was no extra insurance on my account. He then wanted me to sign the paperwork. I asked him 3 times if there was extra insurance as I wasn’t signing it if there was. He assured me there wasn’t. Returned back to Canada 2 days ago to receive an invoice for an extra £222.16. I was charged a theft insurance and a service fee. I lodged a complaint with Europcar but have just found out that I signed for it so have to pay. The amounts on 1 of the documents is handwritten in and I would have seen that. I’m sure it was written in after I signed as I wasn’t given a copy of this document.Use any other car company they will do any unlawful practice to rob you!!!!!
I booked a car to pick it up at Leeds-Bradford Airport, the person at the phone booked my car at an other agency. The Same city but not the same agency. So when I arrived there was no car for me. To be short I was 2 hours late at an appointment because Eupopcar! I lost my reputation in my business because of an agent's mistake ! And when I was trying to find a solution at the phone, the guy wanted me to pay again a more expensive car...because his collegue did this mistake. No excuse from Europcar, just take my money, piss me of and that's it. I'll never take any car from this company anymore. No respect, no good customer service, just take money.
Rented a car here Thursday night . Excellent customer service . The guy here had the car outside the office and as it was a frosty night had the car clear of ice and had the car heated as well very friendly and helpful car was immaculate . Would have given five stars but leaving the car back at 4.00 am this morning the 20th could not see a key drop box clearly signed might have been me being blind finally seen a green box like post on the right side of the office and dropped the keys in there hopefully it was the right place Overall great service and excellent customer service
We rented and paid in advance for a 4 dr w/hatch back for a 2.5 week visit. My wife arrived at Leeds tired from the trip from USA and was given a 2 door fiat... the 'only car' they had available. Then the fellow talked her into insurance which we did NOT need as we'd used the Amex card to rent the car paying in advance. The worst was that, 3 days later when she contacted them to cancel the insurance as it was not needed, they refused, saying it was part of the contract. Absurd. Numerous calls to Customer service were a waste of time. Do not give these crooks your business!
