Total scam. If I can give negative stars I will do so. Don’t ever rent from Budget/Avis. Even when they say charges all included, there’s always tons of extra fees that they will charge upon return. Instructions for collection and return are totally unclear. In case of emergency which is every travellers nightmare and you call the hotline, you will have no one answering at all. Rather pay more initially for Hertz or Sixt, at least the charges are legit and clear. As with all the extra charges/fees, it’s actually ended up being most expensive. Update 20Dec: Thanks for the prompt response David. I had already submitted through your survey. Hope to hear some news from Budget soon.
The absolute most unhelpful, rude beings I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Our car broke down and they barely had the decency of dialing the number to a mechanic on our behalf. They kept telling us the mechanic would arrive and 3hrs later, we’re still waiting…only 48hrs in Paris; 3 so far have been spent dealing with this issue with no resolution in sight . Save yourself the aggravation and don’t book with this company
The worst experience I've ever had with a car rental. Avoid at all costs. We returned the car at a late drop-off and there were no damages sustained to the car during our rental period. The next day, we got a shock when my credit card was charged an additional 800+€ for damages, which based on the photos was a small scratch to the front bumper. We went down twice to the office and they dismissively told us to email them and they would get back to us, and then they conveniently ignored my emails. Customer service reps simply say that the charge will be upheld based on the invoice, without checking with the branch for more photo evidence of damage. The biggest scam company in the car rental industry!
The rental car hadn't been cleaned from the previous renters and stank of smoke. We'd preordered a car seat but they didn't have any available so had to find one which they did in the end. After 2 days the car kept flashing "service required". Absolutely horrible experience. Never will I use Budget again anywhere in the world.
Charged me extra for a penalty which they didn’t support with police evidence. Charged me extra for returning the car to the exact place where I picked it up from. They make sure you’re not informed about their rules so you can be charged for “mistakes” like this. Oh and of course they refuse to use English if it serves them. Don’t use AVIS/Budget.. the money you save you’ll pay for fictitious reasons. Thank you for your response but you could just perhaps be super helpful and answer the emails i sent you before... It shouldn’t be rocket science. Being super nice on google reviews doesn’t help!
Helpful staff, good prices, and no issues even though we returned the car an hour later than how we reserved it. However, -2 stars because their customer service is not free to call and with calling twice 10 min and 40 minutes nobody ever picked up.
Booked a car for 8pm. Did the online checkin. At 8:03 pm the counter was closed for the day. Was also charged an additional 30% without explanation that I need to contact the customer service for.
SCAM!!! Booked online - it said one price...once i got there budget tried to get me to sign a price 3 times higher!? They refused to honor the online reservation. Stay away! Budget is a scam company!
Be careful what you pay for! In our case extras Super damage waiver & Windscreen protection was included in the rental agreement without any notification.
There were so many bad experiences during this rental. I arrived early ti pick up the vehicle at the agreed time which was 3pm. When I got there the agent said the vehicle wasn't available yet and I could pay more to get another model or wait until 3:30pm. I decided to wait until 3:30 which was not ideal but I did not want to pay more. At 3:30pm the agent told me that the model I reserved was not going to be available that day and the only option is to pay more for an upgrade. Since it was the fault of Budget I should NOT have been made to pay more but the agent would not agree. Anyway in the end I agreed to pay more because I had no choice, all of my preparations for the vacation was set and paid. Finally I also asked about the snow chains which I asked to include in the rental through the app because we were going to Chamonix. The agent said they do not have snow chains available. This was totally unacceptable because it was very last minute, the least they could have done is to inform me by email or text weeks or days before so that I can prepare alternatives. Overall I was very very upset with this rental. I am a loyal customer of RentalCars for many years but this experience has really made me rethink. I will never again book at Budget in Gare du Nord, it was stressful and terrible.
