Overall a smooth hiring process from hiring to returns. Didn't get the booked vehicle, but I could quickly upgrade to a vehicle of choice with the help of friendly staff. Found a brand new vehicle and thoroughly enjoyed the ride throughout UK. The return of vehicle to Heathrow was a smooth process, a quick check for any damages and off you go. Thank you Europcar team, hopeful for the same experience next time.
My car broke down ON the way to our holiday and needed a replacement part while we were two hours away from our destination. I tried three rental places walking in the pouring rain with a car in the garage and David from the Glasgow Airport branch was the first thing that went right this day. So helpful and so lovely. Now we're finally on our way after the day from hell! Also thanks to the helpful man with black hair and a beard who was in the returns area and pointed us in the right way. Truly excellent customer service.
Great service from the team at Glasgow Airport. Patrick and Dominic were great and extremely helpful. No problems at pick up or drop off. I would highly recommend using Europcar at Glasgow Airport and will definitely use again next time I'm home. Thanks for a stress free 5 days guys....
Horrendous rental experience with Europcar Glasgow Airport. You pay a premium price and you receive a woefully inadequate service. Spent over 9 hours making 13+ phone calls trying to resolve a faulty high mileage vehicle we had been given. I was constantly passed from one place to another with no one taking responsibility to resolve the situation for me, the customer. Dominic was the only person who actually stepped up and tried to offer some customer service. The branch manager at Glasgow Airport Europcar, Malcolm Grant has been emailed on two occasions and he hasn't even had the courtesy to contact me with a resolution. Unless this is resolved in a timely manner, further action will be taken against Europcar. I would advise you to avoid this rental company given my experience and would offer zero stars if I could. Let's see if anyone at Europcar cares about customer service and offers a resolution to this. The sense I have is Europcar is only interested in profits!
Overall a good experience and reasonably priced. My high score for ease of collect and drop off is based on having paid for the premium insurance package, which saved time checking and marking off every bit if damage. Although I have to say no one walked me to the car to check it over or explain any novel controls. If you're not familiar driving different cars to your own, you may wish to ask someone where everything is as cars seldom have a manual in the glove box. My only criticism was being given the hard sell to buy recovery in case of breakdown. We were delayed and I didn't have time to argue or study the smallprint but I would expect hire cars to come as standard with a recovery service, especially as I was told cars don't come with spare wheels so you need recovery in case of a puncture. This seems ludicrous and is something that would affect me choosing to hire again. Check first is my advice! To add insult to injury I discovered my own car recovery plan covers me in any vehicle, so that was £10 per day wasted. The car low tyre pressure warning kept sounding en route to our destination, so a stop at a garage was required to pump them all up to the correct pressure.
Could not recommend less. Completely insane young driver policy - effectively doubled the price of my car when I got to the kiosk by slapping on a £300 young driver surcharge I am 25 and then also refusing to cancel the £400 I had already paid, meaning I was stuck paying £700 when prices with their competitors would've been £450 with no surcharge. Totally immoral. Car was also completely filthy and windscreen wipers didn't work.
EDIT: Got in touch with Europcar's Customer Service to resolve the issue, and they were very helpful and great do deal with. As a result, the original score I have has been raised from 1 to 4. The problem is not with Europcar, which I'll be happy to use again in the future, but with this specific branch which has been dishonest. ----------------- Booked a car online for 9am, fully paid in advance, arrived at the counter at 11:15am due to some bus delays, and got told I did not have a car anymore, cause they counted it as a no-show and gave the car away to someone else. I had to book a more expensive car as a result. They made no effort to get in touch with me when I was late, and they would have kept the whole amount of the booking for the "no-show". I can't see anywhere in the contract that the car must be collected within a certain time-frame to avoid being considered as a no-show. In the contract, I can only read that the car just be collected within the day. Disgusting experience, bad a bad faith practice on their part.
I do not recommand EUROPCAR, because we had a very bad experience with them. When we chose EuropCar, we though that the company was well known so reliables. A good company is effectively good when you are in trouble, because they will fixe the problem in a good way. Because it is when you are in trouble that you need help from them. We booked a car from Glasgow airport at 7am, then we went to Glosgow city and we made some shopping bacause we would have 300km to run until our hotel in the north of Scotland. At 9am we were ready to drive but we saw that a tire was flat. We were at 30 minutes from the airport office but when we called them, they didn't wanted to change the car and said that we need to fixe the car. It was impossible to change the tire because no spare tire was in the car. So we called the number of emergency of EUROPCAR, and they sand us a man who brough us to a garage and he left us. Hopefully for us we could speak anglish, because the garage boss said that he could fixe the tire at 5pm or the day after. We just arrived to Scotland and we already have to lose 1 day of our holliday composed of 6 days. So we called avery number of EUROPCAR that we could find in internet to find someone to help us. But no one wanted or could help us. So we decided to find a garage by our self, and we called almost every garage of Glasgow, and after 1 hour of calling, we found a garage that can fixe the tire for 1pm. We have travelled in lot of coountries, and we never had such a bad experience with the rental car company. In Jordan for exemple, we had just the air conditionning wich stopped 5 days later, the campany came to our city far from where the company was located the same day with a new car wich was better than the previous car. But EUROPCAR wich was 30 minutes far from us, they didn't consider us or helped us. Waht comapny it is ? Wich company don't care about they customer ? My wife and I were very sad, stressed, confused, desapointed, about the behavior of the wellknown company of EUROPCAR. So if you ask me if I can recommand this company, I can't agree. If we didn't have this problem, we would never had though that they could act like that.
Terrible car "insurance" company. Lists through Expedia, then refuses the insurance Expedia bundles and charges 2X at the counter. Also downgraded my rental without saying a word or discounting cost until called on it. Much better rental options out there.
Only one thing was difficult, we arrived at the airport after a very long flight and when walking through found the Eurocar booth and it was unattended. The could have been a sign at that booth directing us to the building past the arrivals terminal, where we eventually found. Caused a bit of stress because we thought we had missed the timing due to flight delays.
