When you are travelling over several months a reliable vehicle is essential. It's also nice if you can turn up at your friends and relatives in a late model car that looks good. But at what cost. I looked at all the available options and the recommendations of others to finally discover Europcar could meet all my expectations and still make the price affordable. They don't cut corners,there are no rip_offs in the small print. I would strongly recommend the additional insurance cover. It costs a little more but with so much traffic these days it is too easy to find yourself with damage to your hire car. I am in Exeter again next month and I will be using a Europcar again. Made a reservation and prepayment for a compact diesel car on europcar website. The option i chose was "COMPACT DIESEL GUARANTEED". Upon the arrival i received the keys for the  PETROL car instead of diesel. And needless to say  europcar employee didn't say anything about it when he handed me the keys. I only noticed that my car was petrol on my way to the parking when I re-checked the contract agreement.  When I returned to the office saying that I received a petrol car instead of diesel I was told that they don't have diesel cars at the moment. So my question is WHY WOULD YOU PUT AN OPTION ON YOUR WEBSITE FOR  "COMPACT DIESEL GUARANTEED" AND WHAT IS THE POINT OF MAKING A BOOKING IN ADVANCE IF YOU DON'T HAVE THIS CAR AVAILABLE? 
Not only that but when I was making a deposit for that car, they charged me 15 GBP extra than usual.  I asked europcar employee about this unusual price for the deposit but he said he had no idea why it was like that, but everything should be returned to my bank account when the car would be back.  It goes without saying that after I returned the car those 15 GBP were not returned to my bank account. 
Can't say anything else except that the service was very poor and dodgy! Never going to use your company again!

Great experience, from start to finish. Very quick hand over, clean , spotless car. Speedy hand-over. Very professional and courteous staff, will certainly use in October on a repeat visit

Easy to book, pick up and return just as easy. Car has less than 4000 miles on the clock and could n't be better.
