Barman acknowledged us quickly upon arrival and took us to our table. Asked us what we would like to drink then returned within a few minutes with the correct order 👍 When the pizza arrived it was red hot and delicious. Perfect night all round. Toilets are spotless. Well done.

Amazing pizza available to eat in or takeaway. Probably the best pizza I have tasted outside of Sicily.

The Elephant bank is is a welcome addition to Neston life with clever conversion to an attractive bar area to drink and relax (perhaps a little reminiscent of the Elephant in Parkgate). It is a good place to relax for a drink in pleasant surroundings in a town where this is not easy to achieve short of walking down to Parkgate. However currently food standards are poor. This is a great disappointment to me as I positively support the renaissance of Neston - so I write this review in the hope that my comments might give the leadership of the venture, information to enable improvement. I enthusiastically visited Elephant for a meal with my partner very soon after it opened. I eat Italian food frequently both in this country and sometimes in Italy when there for work. On this visit we both had pasta dishes. Both were poor - and not demanding cooking as both of us chose a simple penne arabiata. At the time I put this shortcoming down to the recent establishment of the restaurant and therefore decided not to criticise at that stage. I concluded these were teething problems that would soon resolve. On the positive side the décor was relaxing and interesting. There had clearly been good use made of the old bank's features and the additions to that were attractive and of quality. Especially the LED filament lamps worked well. I very recently returned as a group of four, much hoping for something better regarding the food. It was 7 pm but the restaurant was cold, so not a good start. Two of us again ordered pasta ( prawn and chilli spaghetti) , one had fish (sea bass) and another a margarita pizza. We also ordered a bottle of Rioja red wine - but which unfortunately arrived as the more expensive Montepulciano, with no apology and no offered price reduction when reminded. The waitress said she had got confused after volunteering to describe all the red wines on offer. Disappointingly, all the food was again poor. We all tried the pizza which was soggy and had far too much cheese. It was hard to see how this would have won the recently advertised national gold award. The sea bass was badly burnt on the skin side hence dryer than it should have been and missing succulence. Much is made of all fish being sourced from Wards, but such poor cooking leaves that effort futile. Finally the pasta was bland with little hint of sauce or abundance of olive oil - just spaghetti (encouragingly perfectly cooked ) with bits of chilli and prawns. As before, if these are Wards prawns it seems hardly worth the effort or expense. Pasta if cooked to order is relatively easy to make to an acceptable standard - as witnessed by even many national chains managing to do it satisfactorily. I very much hope that next time I visit, the above shortcomings will have been corrected
