Always park here when down for the GNR, wery handy and toilets and baby changing facilities which were a godsend, all for a few quid. HOWEVER, this year? Toilets locked, no attendants, no ticket machines. Had to quickly pay on parking website. Eleven quid! Big change.
Not a very good experience today! No lifts working again, but even worse there is still no signage at the entrance to the car park to inform the public about this continuing problem. It’s becoming very difficult to go to town as a wheelchair user. I use shopmobility but because I have to use their equipment their T&C’s the wheelchairs don’t fit my body very well footplates too high so my knees are too high and it creates pain down my legs This creates a sense of anxiety, why can’t I use my own wheelchair? Come on Newcastle council surely things could be better.
Not a very good car park,it's also very expensive too for parking, not good when the cost of living is choice between eating and keeping yourself warm.
Disabled driver parked here from 9.40 till 13. 35 and has had 17 pounds 83 pence taken from my bank account, this has been removed after pending. How is this piracy and dishonesty being allowed to continue, hang your heads in shame Newcastle Council, its as bad as being mugged at knife point, somebody needs to look into this with immediate action taken.
Not much spaces for parking actually. Quite a part of positions are reserved. Difficult to find a place to park if you go in busy times.
Yet again the lift is out of order. People waiting with prams and elderly people waiting to use the lift who are unable to climb stairs. For £11 per day I expect more from Newcastle council. They should have more than one lift. Lots of people complaining. It's getting easier to go to the MetroCentre for free parking and no bother getting in.
Didn't feel safe to walk through, or park in. Lots of people hanging around the doorways and sitting on the steps/stairs, drinking, smoking weeds and other drugs.
A slightly better car park than the one across the street.
I usually park in Eldon Square car park but because I was coming from the other direction from China Town direction I parked in Eldon Garden. After doing a little shopping and having a meal, my partner and I walked back to the car to realise that the shutters were down and the doors were locked. Surely an entrance to the car park should be open as the actual car park closes as 10! Not 8.30 which is when we returned to the car. We ended up walking a cross the bridge and and down Eldon Square car park, crossing the road and into the Eldon Garden car park - and yes through the car entrance because we didn't notice the pedestrian entrance. Car park is quite tight too so probably not great for bigger cars. Luckily it's free after 5 so we didn't have to pay. I've dropped this down to 1 star after yesterday. My partner decided we'd park in Eldon gardens as to get to Eldon Square the traffic is ridiculous and we had an optician appointment at boots. We parked pretty far up as most of the spaces are either permit holder, disabled or electric charging. We parked, paid by phone and then went to the lift with our 1 month old baby in his pram. We waited and waited and it said floor 7 the whole time. It wasn't budging. So we went to find another lift. We found a lift through a set of doors to find an out of order sign. We ended up having to take the top part of the pram the car seat. My partner carried our son down and I carried the wheel part with the help of a man and his wife who were looking for a working pay machine as the one at that floor had a black bag over the top! Absolutely ridiculous. This actually reminds me that I was charged nearly £9 for 3 hours a few months a go. Don't know why I bother using this car park, it's the worst ever car park! Also no parent and child spaces?? Eldon gardens is also a ghost town. Maybe make more car parking spaces in there? Just an idea as it's literally got 2 stores open and more parking is needed!
More than sufficient space for the cars & well marked entry, exit directions.
