Wonderful facility for courses and education. Set in a beautiful parkland covering around 35 acres of countryside. It occupies a triangle of land between the Southern bypass and the A34 which means that the walk around the boundary can be a little noisy and that on a hot day the open doors and windows can be a source of some road noise. This was especially true of the Annex study area. The bedrooms are quite large (or at least the ones I saw were) for a university but the bathroom in my bedroom was dark, tiny and tired. I did have a small problem on the first morning with a shower that refused to deliver sufficient hot water, I could either have a fairly warm dribble or a cold shower, however after mentioning it to the reception desk staff it was quickly attended to and by the evening a reasonable performance was delivered. The bed was very comfortable, firm mattress with a soft topper and the pillow was I think foam, no problem there. The only real problem I found with the bedroom was the inability to exclude the morning sun, the enclosed venetian blind would not cut it out and the pull down blinds gapped in the middle no matter what I did. The staff are excellent, every one of them was friendly and helpful in every way and I have nothing but praise for their performance. The meals were exceptionally good and the breakfast particularly enjoyable. If you are booking in for a short break in the oxford area and you are happy to have a bathroom which is a little cramped, then it offers good value for money. If you want an excellent training venue with access to Oxford, then with the provisos above it comes highly recommended. However you should keep in mind the limitations I have mentioned.

Easily accessible from the A34 with good bus links or a short drive into the centre of Oxford, the Egrove Park is primarily a business school set in lovely grounds which appears to let out spare rooms to the public; so don't expect hotel facilities, the rooms are as described 'simple basic'. The architecture and interior design of the main building is like Marmite, personally I loved it and could have spent all day exploring it. However, we stayed in the annexe and trying to carry off the same look in the older converted building just doesn't seem to work. The room was adequate though with all the basics such as tea & coffee making facilities, TV, a large desk and even a fridge and a safe. One thing I did notice which many hotel rooms don't have, is an abundance of power sockets but, beware, some were loose in the wall and cracked. The bathroom, despite having complimentary toiletries, was a let down, very dated with poor fitting surfaces and tiles which has led to black mold growing in the cracks and on the shower door. Breakfast is self service in the main building, and is a choice of cooked with fantastic sausages or continental with breads, pastries, fruit and cereals. Even the coffee machine produces a nice cup of whichever type you go for. Sadly breakfast is only served from 07:45 to 09:00 which we didn't find too convenient and I can imagine, if you stay when a course is running - which we didn't, can get very busy. Overall, when you consider the price of accommodation in Oxford, the Egrove Park is very good value for money and in terms of comfort is on a par with a Travelodge - of which there is on just down the road.

Great place! I stayed two nights, it's really accessible, lovely grounds, quiet. I had a lovely, serene view from my navy room. Tea and coffee facilities and breakfast was great! Cute little boxes in the fridge with a great variety for something on the run!
