Great hotel, great room and atmosphere. The people working there are absolutely amazing, super helpful and kind. They always try to find the best solution for you and always with a smile on their faces.nThe only thing I didn’t like was the restaurant menu - too pricey and not enough choices. It was difficult to find what to eat as the dishes were too characteristic. However, the menu at the bar was absolutely great and so much more choices at a lower price.
We stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend, whilst spending a few days in and around Oxford. I chose the hotel as it was situated a little outside of the city, which wasn’t a problem for us, but if you’re looking to be in the centre, then this might not be for you. The setting of the hotel is stunning, with plenty of grass and gardens with a brook leading into the Thames. We saw a kingfisher and a heron up close, plus lots of fish in the stream. The view from our window was nothing but green, fresh countryside - which is exactly what I want in an Oxfordshire holiday.nnThe rooms were spotless and well appointed, we swapped one room for a twin and this was arranged promptly and with no fuss. The staff were all very polite and helpful and were very knowledgeable about the area too.nnThe pool was lovely and quiet too and the restaurant food was great. Breakfast was also full of different options and the cooked and continental breakfasts were good quality and delicious.nnThe whole hotel was always clean and it all contributed to feeling like we’d had a real, relaxing break. We would definitely stay here again.
Excellent hotel. As picturesque and quaint as it looks in the photos in spacious grounds against the River Thames. Nearby attractions require driving or a cab. The service is excellent. The staff are all friendly and accommodating and seem to enjoy working here. Beds are very comfortable with exceptional linens. Rooms are clean. Bath shower combination is okay but the bath is quite deep and so can be difficult to get in and out of and the water pressure to the shower could be better. Breakfast was included in our rate and is delicious with plenty of choices, good quality food and helpful staff. Robes provided with tea/coffee in room and water in the fridge.
Really disappointing vegetarian set menu, mushroom soup followed by mushroom risotto. Both of these are very simplistic and was in no way equivalent to the menu the meat eaters were given. No thought to how to make this a special occasion for those who follow a vegetarian diet.nnEqually disappointing selection of drinks for those who avoid alcohol. Again, this was very basic, with zero thought put into how to make a special event enjoyable for all guests. Today’s drinking climate has changed significantly and many people are choosing to be alcohol free, not even an alcohol free wine/prosecco.
Was really impressed with the voco, good value hotel in a lovely spot. Staff were helpful & attentive at reception & also the bar. Room was well appointed and comfortable bed too. Solid buffet breakfast, with plenty of choice and good service. Worth seeking out & very accessible spot.
