Eastham Country Park is located in Eastham, Wirral. The park is situated next to the River Mersey and covers an area of 100acre. Facilities at the park include a visitor information centre, tea garden and picnic areas.HistoryIn 1846, the area was landscaped with gardens. A zoo was later added as a visitor attraction, which included a bear pit, monkey enclosures and a lions' den.The park is next to the former Eastham Ferry pier and the former Job's Ferry.According to BBC Domesday Reloaded, Eastham Country Park was opened on 10 July 1973.Flora and faunaBeech and oak are the dominant species within the woodland. The park contains a 500 year old oak.The park is important for wading birds and wildfowl during the winter. Gull species are also present. Other birds common to the park include the blackbird, blue and great tit, chaffinch, collared dove, magpie, robin, thrush, wood pigeon and wren. Grey squirrels are easily visible around the park.
