Emergency waiting hours were too long, but I can understand because it was too busy after the Christmas holidays. The doctors and nurses are extremely kind and caring. No unnecessary egos here like the other big hospitals. Every doctor I saw tried to answer my questions as much as they can and they give you a lot of information the way that you can understand which is very important. Anaesthetic team was super cool and special thanks to nurse Ryan who took care of me post op, he was the nicest and the most understanding health professional I have ever met in my life! A true professional who loves his job. Thank you East Surrey Hospital for making my surgery easier!
Went in on a Thursday and every single member of staff we met was absolutely lovely. Friendly and reassuring, from the staff on reception in A&E to the doctors and specialists. We were in for most of the day, but that's to be expected. The staff were so thorough and kind. My other half got a comprehensive bunch of tests for what he was in for in the Acute Ambulatory dept, plus follow up scans. We were so reassured, so impressed, and knowing how hard everyone works, despite the pressure they're under thanks to under funding by our awful govt - we were blown away by the exceptional care. A necessary and wonderful service, I was so very grateful to each person we met along the way. Dear god I wish we had a functioning govt who would prioritise this incredible service, that helps people no matter their financial status. As it should be. No one chooses ill-health. Thank you East Surrey - you made a scary day more bearable with your kindness and expertise.
Wait time was reasonable in comparison to many a&e's and parking costs were reasonable. The staff were attentive and through. Could do with some more seating and also a call board as often the doctors and nurses spend a few minutes trying to locate the patient in the waiting room which in turn makes the wait time slightly longer.
I attended the A&E dept around 0000 Xmas morning following an earlier accident on my mobility scooter and was bleeding from my left arm. I was immediately triaged with bandages and advise to wait to see a doctor after a blood test. I had the test and was followed up by a Doctor. OK there was a long wait about 7 hours but the leader board displayed the very busy state of play and I was content to wait my turn as the staff saw more serious cases. I would especially like to thank the triage nurse Sue who was extremely helpful and understanding.
Over the last year my wife, a family friend and now myself have been and in my case still am patients. The treated we have received in every area has been excellent. Staff professional, dedicated and courteous and we are extremely grateful for the care we have received. Thank you.
Dear Readers, Two weeks ago, I had an appointment at the hospital for a medical examination. I arrived half an hour early. I drove my car to the parking lot reserved for visitors. The parking lot was full and cars were lined up and moving slowly towards the exit. I drove out and then into the parking lot again, but there was still no free space. I was traveling alone in the car and there were only 8 minutes left until my appointment. Desperate, I parked on a service road and went to the hospital. I mentioned to the reception that I parked the car in the wrong place, but they just waved me off to let them know how difficult parking is. When I was done, I went back to my car and saw that I had been ticketed for illegal parking. I quickly went back to the hospital to complain, but all I got was a piece of paper with a phone number, a name and an email address Car Park Manager. I wrote my complaint in an email the same day, but no response was received. I called the number countless times, but they never picked up. I also wrote to the email address on the penalty slip. There was no answer to that either. I finally paid the fine, but I think it's unfair. And the handling of the complaint is considered unfair. I would like to ask the public what I should have done? The next time I, or any reader, finds yourself in a similar situation, what can you do??? Thank you for reading my lines. Best Regards, Attila
Genuinely the worst experience of my life, was treated SO badly and for someone so used to hospitals and waiting around for hours I can confidently say I received horrific treatment. I was left for nearly 10 hours with an appendicitis and ended up sleeping overnight in the empty waiting room while they prepared my bed which took until 2 in the morning even though I could see many empty clean beds around which even just to sit on would’ve been comfier then what I had been lying on since I arrived at the hospital midday the day before, there was zero communication between staff every step of the way and I could write a thousand reasons as to why this hospital deserves 0 stars, when they finally got me a bed I ended up crying due to how poorly I had been treated then was patted on the back by a nurse and told that I must be feeling hormonal. Always respected staff in the hospital as I know what a tricky job they have but this was the one time I could’ve genuinely shouted at a member of staff. Never had an issue with hospitals until it came to this one so I’m currently avoiding it like the plague. Also when this occurred I was on kids ward but because I was up the higher end of the age range I had been left last for pretty much the whole experience and ended up in what looked like a fully deserted waiting room no lights and no staff, I felt completely forgotten. Thank you so much east Surrey hospital for providing the worst experience of my life xox
After discovering two tears on my retina at a routine eye test I was referred to East Surrey Hospital Eye Clinic. An appointment was made in 2 days and I saw Dr Mohamed Abdulkader who was quite simply amazing. He advised me that I needed laser surgery to repair the tears and could do it that day - in fact in 30 minutes! The whole process from all the staff at the clinic from start to finish was superb.
Went to A&E with my husband who was in atrial fibrillation on Tuesday. We were very impressed with the treatment. Very quickly triage and then sent to acute ambulatory care where seen by nurse, junior doctor and consultant all within a short period of time. Medication upped with appointment to come back on Thursday.
Good service in the Children's A & E yesterday, although I am sure there must be a way to not have to wait so long between triage and seeing the GP. Friendly staff. It was very cold in there though. In the cafeteria the automatic doors are continually open, making it too cold to actually sit and have a drink. The settings need to be adjusted.
