If I can give -1star I will. Horrible 111 doctor and receptionist. Only know how to blame the patient and never listen, we late for 10 mins due to heavy traffic, the phone can never call back and they never called us. We beg them and said the kids were so unwell and they threatened us to cancel the kids appointment because of 10 mins late. arrogant doctor that’s why so many kids are suffering and lost their lives because of this kind of attitude. Unprofessional, treat people like dirt, If you don’t like your job, just quit it, rather to treat people like this!
Secretaries are doctors and gives advices over the phone. Thank you, very helpful. I have never being able to book an appointment on the app as the practice does not release available slots! Thank you, very helpful again.
From the receptionists to each and every GP and nurse based at this surgery I cannot fault them for looking after the health and wellbeing of my family.
I've had very good experiences with Hawthorns. I moved from another local practice because it was an impossible to get an appointment there and have found Hawthorns to be a dream in comparison! The receptionists are very helpful and friendly, and will always try to do the best thing for you. I can usually get an appointment within a week, and have been triaged to same-day when necessary.
If only Nurse Ruth was in charge, she is always friendly, caring and diligent. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the rest of the surgery! They have continuously made mistakes with repeat prescriptions with no apology whatsoever and are they are very unwilling to admit any wrongdoing. Most of the receptionists are quite unfriendly and unhelpful a lot of the time. Whilst I appreciate that the NHS is under tremendous stress at the moment, this has been going on long before the pandemic. Things need to change!
When the doctor makes a follow up appointment to see you as they want to keep a personal eye on your condition the receptionists feel free to cancel it. I had proof on my appointment but that didn't matter one bit. Receptionists and their 'team leaders' should stay in their lane and shouldn't be overruling doctors. They certainly shouldn't be rude to ill patients. Oh and this is not the first time I have experienced this. Which is a shame as normally they are alright.
My Mother is registered with the surgery. She recently needed to be seen urgently, was given a face to face appointment at the surgery. Everyone we met was helpful and kind. Dr Beck really took the time to listen to her and examine her. This morning I called the surgery, got through with little delay and really helpful receptionist. Thank you.
My view of this surgery is shocking to say the least. I was with this surgery before and left because the doctor I had didn't seem to have the time for his patients and never listened to their symptoms. I went to the one next door where I was happy until one doctor said I needed to be put on rapid appointments because of my suicidal type depression, someone at that surgery thought it in their best minds to take me off that privilege, so I went back to The Hawthorns only to find not much has changed there 2 years on. I re-sign in one day took in my photo id formed the whole lot, including my medications and the receptionists done the work by copying the document, the medication and photo ID. A week later I went in to do my repeat prescription to find they hadn't got my details and I needed the medication urgently. 3 times I went back saying my prescription they had done was wrong as I wasn't on the medication they had done 2 years prior. I was so frustrated with them that I ended up banging my head on the desk just to be as dense as them. The receptionist called the doctor and accused me of being violent to her when in fact I was self-harming, not even the doctor concerned saw it as self harming. He took me in his office and told me to apologise to the receptionist concerned. I'm really fed up with this particular doctor as he seems to be playing at his job instead of helping his patients and yes he's the one who's voice you hear on the switchboard phone. I've been on hold now for over 35minutes and still no-one wants to pick up the phone so I can change my doctor and make an appointment to see them nor any mention of where I am in the queue. Someone finally picked up the phone and spoke with me for just over 2 minutes. This call alone cost me over £10, and still I don't feel that I've been helped. 1 star is way too much for this practice.
Daughter referred here by NHS 111 at 8 pm to see out of hours dr for sick 6yr old grandson Not allowed in by receptionist so had to wait in the cold in the car outside. Waited for an hour grandson got too cold so they left without being seen. What a way to treat people - deplorable
Really surprised by some of the negative reviews here. Have been with this surgery for over 12 years and I am more than happy. There's so much to like about this practice and personally I have always found the Reception Staff welcoming and helpful both face to face and on the phone, honestly ALWAYS - even when they are really busy. The Drs & Nurses come and get you from the Waiting Room which is really HUMAN and welcoming. Up until recently I always saw my own GP - that has changed but my experience with other Drs has still been fit for purpose. There is also parking, the building is fully accessible and the waiting area roomy. Caring engaged staff, good facilities - I am very happy with this Drs surgery and I truly wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
