Definitely not a 4 hotel.nnBooked a compact double room which was comfortable and modern but the shower was a complete joke. There were only a couple of centimetres between our heads and the shower head and hardly any room to move in the shower. It also needed a deep clean. I actually hurt my shoulder, trying to move around. Reception was helpful and said they would move us the next morning. But at almost midnight we discovered the AC was leaking water all over our luggage. Reception again was very helpful and moved us to a different room within 20 minutes. The new room was very big and the shower more acceptable, but the room was old and tatty.nnThe pool was fine but the tiles had a lot of black dirt, again, a good deep cleaning overdue.nnI would book again but on my understanding that this is nowhere near the same standard as any other 4 I've stayed at before and the price would have to be right.
Would strongly advise not to waste you money or time going to the Durley Dean hotel for a “spa day” not only is it all in the basement so no fresh air or natural daylight, but there is no where to chill and relax hard benches by the pool only for a single person not great when your having a spa day with a friend, bathrooms dirty, waiting treatment area is small, uncomfortable and smells stuffy with a ticking clock, not even any drinking water, you can choose to “chill” in their bar area that is open to the public in the bar. When the issues were raised on the day they were putting my complaint to the manger.nNot only was his dismissive via emails but also rude and would not acknowledge information was misleading as to what a SPA day is and was not accurately consumer rights Would recommend spending a little extra money for a much better local relaxing SPA experience
We just checked out of this hotel yesterday . Had an awful experience.n1. Our room wasn’t ready at the advertised time of 3 pm, lots of other families with children had to wait for their rooms also.n2. The main selling point of the hotel, air conditioning, did not work. We let the reception know, they sent someone who cleaned the filter and assured us it will now definitely work. Not only did it not work and our room on the top floor was sweltering hot, my bed was under the AC unit and I woke up in the middle of the night from liquid from the AC dripping on my head, my pillow was soaking wet.n3. Wifi did not work AT ALL, on both daysn4. I had reserved a spa treatment in advance, online, and paid for it. When I came to the spa I was told the booking was accepted by mistake and they no longer offer this kind of treatment.n5. And the icing on the cake…when I came to the reception to ask for a refund, they refused. They said I need to email the director of the hotel to ask him for a refund. I emailed him straight away 5 pm on Aug 12 and am yet to hear from him.
Walking distance to Bournemouth beach. Alright hotel. The room had an AC, that was handy for a good night sleep during summer visit. It is an old building. Hence there were creaking sounds from the floor while walking. Also you could hear outside noise. The bathroom is so very small.
I do not recommend. The pool is more like a puddle. Small and dirty. The bed in the room is very high and very uncomfortable and narrow for two. There are probably bricks in the pillows. Very hard. There is no refrigerator in the room. The TV is small, the Internet is very weak, low speed. You can't watch a movie online. £300 per night and breakfast is not included. You have to pay separately. The breakfast is poor. English breakfast and nothing more. There is no cheese or cold meats. Clearly not 4 or even three stars. Maximum two. The sea is not far. Basically I do not recommend. Check-out is at 10.00. Horrible. Previously it was from 14:00 to 12, now from 15:00 to 10:00. Check-out is at 10:00 in the morning. And this is for a small room for £300 per night. Such a but should cost a maximum of £120.
