I come here often to have a drink and view the lake while my husband walks the dog. Fantastic location. Food is good. But I do wish the music were set at a quieter level as I suffer with noise sensitivity . I did ask but was refused on one occasion but other members have staff have done so willingly.Service: 2/5
The location was great and just under two miles walk away from Peterborough centre. The hotel was dirty, very poorly looked d after. The first room we had the shower was cold and the extractor fan didn't work so they moved us the next morning to another room which stank of damp, the extractor fan in the bathroom worked but the heated towel rail didn't work. There were no plug sockets by the bed, only the other side of the room. There was nowhere to put clothes, no drawers or wardrobe, the first room had pull out hanging rails but no hangers so pretty useless. They had supplied toiletries in the bathroom however so that was good. The breakfast was OK, the tables were only partly laid and the chairs were covered in crumbs. There were two used paint pots on the window ledge in the restaurant too which isn't the best look! They got me almond milk as I'm on a lactose free diet but didn't offer to cook eggs separately for me as the scrabbled eggs they put out had milk in them. I would say thus hotel isn't a 3 star more like a 1 or 2 star. I complained about the room as I checked out ans was told they would speak to the manager the next day and someone would email me with the response, this didn't happen but I saw them speaking to the manager moments later even though they said they weren't in until the next day. If only the hotel was loved a bit more as it has massive potential with such a great location right next to the rowing lake! I would not visit again and would not recommend it at all. My first holiday on my own with my son was ruined staying here.
It’s located on a beautiful area around the park, lake, meadows and forest reserve! The lounge bar and dining area have lovely view of the rowing lake and the side along river Nene! The refurbished rooms are very comfortable, spacious and clean overlooking the courtyard area. The staff on duty are helpful and friendly especially the lovely Ms Marina at the reception is great and efficient in giving us tips to walk into town; helps borrowed us a fan for the hot summer night! We truly appreciate this level of excellent service. The breakfast service staff are great in making sure all the food are replenished! We had a few drinks at the bar area and also the open courtyard is beautiful with outside sitting area with the open view to the river and park area. It’s was a lovely stay and great experience in this hotel; for sure we would visit again during the cooler months.
Nice food at a reasonable price and a good drinks selection. Decent seating outside with a view over the rowing lake. Could do with some bicycle racks, as many people cycle around from Ferry Meadows, it would be nice not to lock my bicycle to the fence!Service: 4/5
Very nice atmosphere, a charming place. But the food is unfortunately quite low quality. You would expect a nice pub food in such a place, especially in this beautiful location, but the vegan burger and fries I had were very disappointing. Not much difference from McDonald’s to be fair… Location: 5/5
Stayed for 2 weeks at Peterborough, items missing at breakfast every day with the excuse waiting on deliveries. Can never get through on phone to reception, if you go through to head office, they will try and put you through, but they always say they are having a few issues with the phone system because they know no one will pick up and that it will simply disconnect the call. After I returned home I notice my car had been run into, and simply wanted to ask if they had any cctv, but couldn’t even get through to ask. Even after emailing the question I was completely ignored. The reception staff couldn’t be less bothered, they are either sat on their phones, or stood outside smoking. Even on my first day, checking in , the receptionist simply pointed to the self service terminal and basically said do it yourself, this is fine as that’s the general idea of it, but it just felt so rude the way they did it.
Location is amazing, real wow factor, staff on the Saturday really good especially the receptionist. Receptionist on the Sunday needs to be retrained in customer service, as a good morning goes a long way. Room very very basic but okay for one night, I am a disabled person and informed the hotel of this some weeks before, was informed our room would be disabled friendly. When getting into the room noticed that the shower had a step into it, ask the receptionist about this and was informed that only doubled bedrooms had level floor access , not twin rooms. Was offered the opportunity to use the shower in another room but declined as I found this disrespectful, although I feel the receptionist was just trying to be helpful.the biggest problem was the entrance to the patio area, large step and no ramp, with help I managed to get in and out but a gentleman in a wheelchair couldnt, this is disgraceful what happened to equal opportunity. The breakfast on the Sunday was a joke they should be paying us to eat there. Very little food on displayed, when asked for eggs and bacon was told its coming , it never arrived, food was cold and the waiting staff seemed like they didn't want to be there, should of gone to macdonalds.
Had a week booked here for work. All meals paid for. Arrived and was told I couldn't use the restaurant as they had a group booking and basically couldn't handle it. Was directed to the pub next to it for food or told to use just eat for a delivery! Yes, really! Breakfast - This place can't own any teaspoons as there were never any there. Rooms were decent, reception staff were spot on but restaurant staff weren't so good. One particular member of kitchen staff shuffles around with shoes hanging off, shirt untucked and quite frankly looks a bit of a scruff.
Stayed one night. No hot water! Asked reception they say wait 1h try again then they sorry never switched boiler number 2 on. Sorry if I stay and pay this price then at least have hot water!Rooms: 1/5
Seems to be a great location. Not sure what is going on with the self check-in though - everybody seems to need help and that personal touch is missing. Check - in machines don't smile!!! When we arrived in the room the TV had no signal so I had to retune it - then it was OK. What I really dont like though is when Hotels have yellow, discoloured, toilet seats. Surely it cant be too expensive to replace them when they discolour. Always raises a big question mark with me about cleanliness. Breakfast OK but their COVID policy seems a bit strange. The hotel does not make Up rooms, due to COVID restrictions, but for breakfast your expected to dig into a supermarket bag of bread, along with everybody else, to make your toast. The bacon and sausages could do with a bit more cooking aswell. 2nd day - perhaps the worst breakfast performance of any hotel I have ever stayed in. All tables full of dirty crockery, 2 pots of coffee with the colour of tea, no fresh crockery, no granola, cups dirty, no bacon, half used plates from guests who gave up lieing with fresh food on the buffet and no service to be seen - god the list just goes on - stars reduced from 3 to 2.
