VISIT 1 Great food, banging environment. Grumpy bar staff, could’ve been a 5 guys. Could have been a 5…. Edit: VISIT 2 When ordering food it was not communicated that ingredients were unavailable. My disappointment to find I had been charged for king prawns only to be served 4 shrivelled sandwich prawns. What was the kitchen thinking? Edit: VISIT 3 Had to leave, after half an hour in queue at bar. No staff communicated the hold up, arguably very understaffed. Never managed to order a thing and wasted my lunchtime. Had to bail for a Sainsbury meal deal at my desk. Unlikely to return again, reduced my star rating from a 4 to a 1. Sorry guys, you don’t seem to care.
If you're going for the Christmas meal, choose their beef cheek, as the turkey was disappointing, and the burger was frozen inside. The servings are small I arrived with a big appetite and left hungry after a three-course meal.
Stayed in the nearby Firefly Hotel and had a very enjoyable meal here from a great menu. A table full of guests were not happy that several things were not on the menu due to supplier issues that many restaurants were experiencing at the time and decided to try elsewhere. I would like to add at this point that I witnessed the manager handle the situation with calmness and dignity under provocation from one individual in the group. The meals were full, tasty and well presented and the establishment, busy, clean and full of interesting decor. Would happily recommend.
Lovely, smart looking pub. Mark was the first person that served us and was professional and engaging from the word go. We ordered pate and unfortunately it only comes with one small slice of toast. With plenty of pate we asked for another slice of toast. Our request wasn't met with the most positive response and eventually our slice arrived at the cost of £1.29... We were very disappointed with food and attitude of some members of the team. I must say Mark is a gem and the rest of the team would do well to emulate his level of customer service.
Was so looking forward to eating here , Everything over cooked even the fried egg was hard . Sorry this place needs a Chef not a cook . Waitress was great offering me a fresh meal , and a drink on the house . But bad cooking is bad cooking I don’t think even if I’d changed my order it would have been any better so declined and left I did pay BTW
Beautiful place, lovely nature trails which are mostly well kept so you aren't bothered by nettles and thorns, some places could do with a regular touch up though. Really big, connects to Thorpe park if I'm not mistaken not from around here. Lovely place to go. Just bring your own water... The pub we went to charged nearly five pounds for two bottles of water lol.
A lovely refreshing drink after a lovely walk...love visting this place. Friendly helpful staff
After a bit of confusion regarding the route to and car parking system it was dark and our 1st visit to the area. We finally made it inside the boathouse pub. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming with the staff helpfully showing us to our table. I found that the service was efficient and that the food was excellent. I later found out that the manager was in the kitchen with sleeves rolled up and getting stuck in to help.. Well Done !! Leading from front !! I would highly recommend a visit to The Boathouse pub for dining or refreshment.
Nice to find a dog friendly pub and be able to take them inside whilst having a meal or drink. Great parking facilities and friendly helpful staff too, unfortunately the coffee we had was pretty weak low grade filter coffee with little or no bite to it and wasn't anywhere near as satisfying or enjoyable as it should have been.
Had lunch last week and registered my car no in Reception. Service was slow - hence we were longer than planned. Have just received a car parking fine for £60 for staying ONE MINUTE over 2 hrs. A very expensive lunch - don’t think I can afford to eat there again. Since my review The Boathouse has speedily rectified this mistake by the Parking Company and cancelled my fine so I shall definitely return. Thank you Boathouse.
