Nice local pub with a country vibe in the suburbs of Liverpool. Good food, shows the football as well.Food: 5/5
Booked for an engagement party using the private function room upstairs. Was perfect...buffet food was amazing by chef Dylan and his team and the space itself comes alive when twilight. Justin and all the staff looked after us. Such a great memory! Would definitely recommend...Food: 5/5
If the question is ‘how do you make a roast potato hard yet chewy?’ Then the Dovey has the answer. As I type I have a gravy stain down my top where one rogue potato went flying as I attempted to cut it. I like the Dovey but genuinely I’ve just had the worst roast I’ve ever eaten, which is a shame because it looks fantastic when it’s brought out. To be fair, the beef was great and it was a generous amount but the veg was hard, not a flake of seasoning to be found on the spuds and while the Yorkshire's threatened to be decent they were overcooked and dry. Good gaff but food is always hit and miss. Waste of 30 quid.
Food was amazing, very nice pub with a lot of interesting history, staff are brilliant and the door men are fantastically friendly Paul and the other fella tall red haired lad, will definitely be visiting again xFood: 5/5
Lovely pub, well priced, lovely staff and great food. Can get a little busy when the weather's good but that's all part of the fun.Food: 5/5
Great pub awful toilets. Half of the toilets didn't have properly fixed seats, some didn't have loo roll, some were leaking all over the floor, no hand wash or sanitizer. Revolting. Wouldn't eat here because the poor state of the toilets gives the impression that hygiene isn't their top priority.Service: 3/5
I want so much for this place to be good but every time I come it disappoints, it was always my local growing up and is great for a drink, but the food really lets it down. Recently we came here and waited 50 minutes for food, when it came out it was cold - another of our tables fish was still frozen in the middle, salt and pepper chips are just chips in sweet chilli sauce - and the cost is the worst part! Charging high end prices for poor quality food is not on.
Just had a drink and watched the football, no food although there were lots of happy enough looking diners. Unique looking building really impressive. Nice staff, nice atmosphere, dogs and family welcome, pretty scruffy / grubby but maybe that's the characterful look they're going for. Looks like significant money was spent renovating it not that long ago but it's had a hammering since, shows it's popular anyway so they're doing something right.
An attractive busy local pub with a decent outside space for sunny days. Good selection of food and plenty of beers on draught. Dog friendly and the lovely staff will likely come to say hello to your dog, bringing water and a biscuit
Great informative staff. Nice atmosphere, good beer and fab interiors. What an amazing place , well priced food, large beer garden and dogs are welcomed
