I went on spec to see the new showroom having owned jaguar XJ's for over 30 years. The reception and sales people were very attentive and helpful. In fact I finished up buying a jaguar XE and the people could not have been better. A first class service.

I entered the Jaguar/Land Rover dealership late Saturday afternoon as I was passing by as I was interested in looking at the EPace. I could see several people through a glass window talking in another room who looked like sales people. I wandered around the showroom for approx 10 minutes across Jaguar and Land Rover and not one person came over to talk through anything to do with the cars. After 5-6 minutes the girl at reception asked if I wanted a tea or coffee to which I said no thank you and she wandered back to her desk. I was opening the boots and doors but still no sales person came over. I might be in my 30s, look like I’m in my 20s but that doesn’t mean I do not have the cash to purchase one of your cars. I felt personally offended that no one could spare 5 minutes. I’ve heard a similar experience from a friend of a friend who went in your store in work overalls a while ago but had over £100k cash on him to purchase a new Range Rover. He got some filthy looks so he took his money to a different branch instead. I work in sales myself and have done for over ten years personally managing over 50% of my companies revenue. You simply do not convert or receive word of mouth/good reviews from ignoring your customers. Sort it out. Don’t judge a book by its cover.

Bit of a mixed experience this Saturday visiting the showroom. I had arrived mid morning to primarily look at the used approved XFs and XEs, with the intention of buying one within the next 6 months and was very pleased with the visual condition of those that i was interested in. What i found slightly strange however was that me and a friend (both of us in our mid 20s) were never once approached by a member of the sales team or offered a drink/ chat by anyone. We browsed the stock outside for a decent 15 minutes but the weather was slightly drizzly so saw that as a reason for being left alone. We then entered the show room and remained looking/sitting in various models, playing with some of the features of each for a good 30 minutes with no one even looking to ask us if we were okay. Admittedly some people, myself included do like to browse in any retailer (cars, clothes, electronics) without pushy sales people but i did notice older people coming into the showroom who were being immediately attended to. Understandablely i do not fit the stereotype for a Jaguar owner, having pulled up in my very modest Citreon C3, wearing casual clothes and being relatively young but it was slightly offputting for a serious buyer to be potentially not taken seriously when everyone else was.
