I wanted to avoid the TELDOC band of GP practices when I moved to Telford because the reviews were so bad. This GP surgery has serious organisation problems and dare I say it serious safety issues. I say this from the point of view of trying to get an appointment. They still continue to restrict access to GP appointments nearly 3 years on from covid. I have phoned on multiple occasions for a GP appointment only for untrained receptionists to think it's acceptable to triage me and my young son with a clinical pharmacist via telephone. Since when can doctors diagnose accurately without physical examinations? On one occasion I needed my son to be seen about his breathing and they first triaged me with a phone call with a pharmacist. When I insisted he needed a doctor she wouldn't see him in clinic despite knowing it was breathing related and tried to diagnose him over the phone with Asthma and start inhaler treatment, assuring me a pharmacist was qualified to do this too. Finally, as I refused this, when he was seen she said it was a simple viral infection which actually didn't need treatment. With all due respect a GP requires 10 years of minimum training to diagnose and treat patients, it is unacceptable to be triaged with a clinical pharmacist who are not properly trained to diagnose patients with potentially chronic long term conditions especially over the phone. It is frankly negligent and unfair to put this burden on pharmacists because GPs are so understaffed and/or unwilling to see patients in person. Receptionists at this practice have actually told me to go to A&E rather than giving me a GP appointment, which is appalling considering the state of the overstretched emergency services. This practice needs a review by the CQC in all honesty. I wonder how many patients have been misdiagnosed, had illnesses missed or had treatment withheld due to the failure of its GPs to properly see and treat patients. If you are lucky enough to get seen, don't expect to be seen on time-ironic considering the waiting room is almost empty most of the time.
I'm being treated for depression and generalised anxiety disorder. I'm on the 12 month waiting list for therapy and still have six months minimum until I can get an appointment. Spoke with a GP today because I've been struggling a lot with my mental health. The GP basically said: 1 Everyone is anxious and stressed at the moment 2 Try not to worry about the things that are making you anxious 3 Ring the therapy centre again That was it. No other help or services offered, nothing. The doctors practice is not a joke, it's a whole circus.
My husband has been with this practice for over 30 years. I question a prescription that has taken over 72 hours to get signed off.yet it had been sent through the pod a week earlier. But the practice say different. They have now decided to say that he is out of catchment area. Which is OK as he is going to go to shawbirch. Who are amazing. Dawley your care is diabolical from your gps.your receptionists .well.we all know what GPS receptionists are like.utter vile human beings. Would be about right.
Rude doctors. Always busy but when you gp in their their is nobody their having s poorly 7 week old baby and they say we'll u can bring her up but we are really busy. Like they can't even be bothered to do their job and see people
Overall good. Unfortunately there are doctors that try shrug you off to not deal with the problem and tell you to come back in a month etc but most doctors and nurses I have dealt with have been very helpful. Reception staff are warm and friendly.
Never known a surgery to be as bad as this one. Half of them do not know what they’re doing. Was meant to have important bloods done on a certain day and the nurse who did my bloods missed it so I only had some of them done and not the important one I needed. so now I have got to wait a whole month before I can have them again. I was also meant to be referred to a specialist last year and I wasn’t, so I’ve had to wait another year to go through the same testing to be referred again! Honestly it’s ridiculous. This is what happens when you don’t get seen by the same doctor and it’s someone random who doesn’t know your situation. Will be putting a complaint in! This place gets worse and worse each day. you’re lucky to even get through on the phone even though the surgery is empty and most of the office staff are sat there chatting away .
Absolutely terrible doctors, I'm convinced they have their phones off until it's too late to book anything. You can never get through and when you do you get the obligatory "call back tomorrow". Honestly dying is probably your best option with this practice.
I have lived in Dawley for ten years now and my overall impression is that is becoming more difficult to see a doctor. My last attempt resulted in my being offered a pharmacist instead. If I need a physical examination how can this help? And how can a receptionist triage people over the phone effectively? Far from happy.
Doctors and nurses are first class. Dr. Bufton, Davies, Kumar, Murphy all fantastic. The receptionists are better than before but still leave a lot to be desired. Can be very abrupt and rude and cannot wait to put phone down. 2 major flaws are the systems used. 1. You have to explain your illness to the non-medically trained receptionists which is not acceptable. 2. The website and doctors tell you that you have to order prescriptions 7 working day in advance of running out which is fine as we all understand they are very busy. However, they then decline the prescription saying it was put in too early. You always have to fight to ensure you maintain your medication with them. I honestly wish they had more help as I believe the underlying desire is to help the community.
Very poor on hold for 40 mins to get told I have to call back at 8am. Surely if there is appointments at 8am the next day they can book me in while I've waited 40 mins. This is why I don't bother going to the doctor absolute waste of time.
