A historical seaside metro station which still has its original charm of a popular Victorian seaside station. This station was once connected to the Great British railway and was originally part of a much older rail system in the United Kingdom.
So great to be be able to get from my favourite coast to my favourite city in just a few comfy minutes - though I see the prices have shot up in recent times...... There should be a 'Newcastle weighting' allowance there, surely. On Friday and Saturday at least they should have a couple of extra trains to take service past midnight - something we can learn from our European cousins.
Lovely little station which is well located to the seafront. The station was clean and tidy, it has regular services although due to the aging fleet and chronic underinvestment these are becoming unreliable.nnIt could have done with some additional seating as when I visited, it was very busy and all seats were in use.nnCurrently undergoing some improvement works which means that the bridge between the 2 platforms is out of use.
The metro station is only a few hundred meters from the beach. Well located and it runs every couple of minutes. A little less frequently on weekends but still quite often.
Cullercoats is a very popular venue and is always crowded. Besides being by the seaside and having a safe secluded beach area there are toilet facilities and a number of cafes and fish and chip shops. However to get to these an element of exertion is required on the part of the individual.
