This was a brilliant train station for both arrival and departure, with lengthy platforms for the large metro services! The roofing is kept well intact and shelter is readily available under bad weather, metro station sign looks very modern too. Cleanliness was strong and bridge helps get across, leading to the exit as is signposted properly!
Whitley Bay metro station is close to the seaside promenade and historic Spanish city. The station has been going through some renovations work and soon to be back in its full service.nVery close to local amenities and shops bars and award winning diners.
Attractive brick building with it's clock tower feature in the center. It would get a higher rating from me if there wasn't so much restoration work going on inside to the roof and platforms. But I'm sure when it's finished it will be five star. A small caffe there and ticket office, aswell as easy to use ticket machines on the platforms. Could do with some proper seating.
Currently undergoing restoration works inside the station, so you're unable to see the true beauty of it, but you can still get a pretty good feeling for it based on the outside of the station.nnIt is very easy to walk to the seafront from here, although there isn't any signage at least, any that I saw to tell you which way to go.nnThe service is regular, however due to the current aging fleet, there are issues with the reliability of services at the moment, with many trains running late or not turning up. The network as a whole is clearly suffering from chronic underinvestment, but appears to be doing it's best to pull through the struggle.
Really nice station building but currently doing repairs so there is scaffolding all over the pitch. Outside of the station is really nice
