Classic post-war architecture (actually the very last station opened by the L.N.E.R. in January 1947) repurposed for the 21st century, this station suffers for the lack of a heated indoor waiting area and it could hardly be said the ramp on the adjoining bridge is particularly friendly for anyone in a wheelchair. Sadly, however, this is typical of stations on the Metro, whose managers could learn a great deal by visiting the Merseyrail network with its excellent facilities, permanently staffed stations and free car parks.

I like the bridge it is very fun to walk across.

Tends to get rather busy during rush hour, a lot more than other stations.
