150 year old theatre with legroom, what's not to love. It's unusual in being underground so you walk down to the circle and stalls, good ventilation and pleasant temperatures throughout. We had a thin column near our seat which was flagged as restricted view but caused us no problems at all. We went to see Two Strangers - what a fantastic show with a cast of two wonderful singers, many funny moments and touching ones too.
Been here a few times for shows... Amelie, 2 Strangers... Nice little theatre, leg room not too bad down in the stalls but less good up-top. Fantastic and iconic location. Front of house staff always friendly.
Sat up top in the Grand Circle but still had a breathtaking view of the stage and actors. Really great to be able to see their facial expressions which adds to the dynamic of the show. The auditorium is rather small, and so feels more intimate and cosy. Great sound system and comfortable seats. With a stage so small, its brilliant to see how the actors make the most of the room they have around them, and it was particularly refreshing to watch a show led by two actors without an ensemble. Just two people, telling a beautiful story on stage. The theatre is a slight maze with the amount of doors it has, but worry not, a member of the team is always around to direct you to the right place. A perfect evening.
Saw "Two Strangers Carry a Cake Across New York" from the front row of the balcony at the Criterion. Wonderful show & a gem of a theater. Highly recommend both the theater and the show. Staff competent and friendly. Theater celebrating 150 years this year.
I had never been to this theatre in the heart of Piccadilly before. Such a delightful, small and stunning theatre where we saw a wonderful romp of a musical ‘ I Wish You Well’ following its highly ‘must see’ performance at the Edinburgh Fringe festival this year.
Nice little theatre right in the middle of Piccadilly where the big LED Screens are. Saw the production of Two Strangers which was amazing. Sat in E2 far end on the right. Cheap ticket because they said it was blocked but I did not miss a thing. This ticket is a good bargain.
I loved Two Strangers. I saw theater four times during my visit and this one was the easiest to enjoy and just a joy to watch. The leads have nice voices and the plot is very contemporary and even interesting, which is rare for a musical. Highly recommend.
This beautifully preserved unique and historic venue is located almost entirely underground. The internal decor is in a beautiful French Renaissance style and it was originally designed for a concert hall complex that later became a theatre. The composers' names still visible on the tiled staircases. We went to see Two Strangers Carry a Cake Across New York, a beautiful rom-com musical that made our night out extra special.
Absolutely loved the theater and the show Two Strangers. The theater was unique and very clean. Great options at the bar.
This is a beautiful theatre, right next to Piccadilly underground station. We saw Two Strangers Carry a Cake Across New York and were in seats A24-26 of the Dress Circle. Fabulous view AND legroom! The show is brilliant. A lot rides on Sam Tutty who gives a fantastic performance with the perfect balance of nerdiness and humour. There really aren’t many actors with a great voice who could pull this off. The understudy playing Robin, Tilly La Belle Yengo, was also wonderful.
