This hall and room hire venue has a library, meeting rooms and a small performance stage. All the ground floor rooms are wheelchair accessible but there is no lift to the upper floor. First opened in 1929, Conway Hall is owned by Conway Hall Ethical Society - the world's longest-running 'free-thought' organisation it is still renowned as a hub for free speech and independent thought. 'Power to the teddies'! The staff is friendly and helpful. I was here with my human mummy for recital. Callum Smart and Richard Utley.
Love the humanist ethos of this place. I've seen quite a few of the Sunday chamber music recitals over the years here. I really recommend them - top musicians and tickets are very reasonably priced
This venue claims it's "where ethics matter" while hosting propagandists that support authoritarian regimes in Syria, Iran and Russia. Edit: the venue cancelled the event. Thank you Conway Hall! These people should not be given a venue to amplify their propaganda! Ethics above profits.
This venue took a principled stance against hosting pro-russian propagandist George Galloway and a number of other prominent anti-Ukrainian russian propagandists, they deserve to be commended for standing on the right side of history, kudos.
Prices are reasonable for tickets and drinks and they attract wonderful talent but the seats are atrocious. They were like school seats for five year-olds, plastic, hard and very uncomfortable. We went to the balcony after intermission because those seats looked cushioned and more comfortable but they were dreadfully old, ripped and some were sloped/broken.
... short walk from Holborn station, gents toilet is on the the first floor, ladies and disabled toilet on ground level. there is also a drinking water dispenser. the seats are plastic but they provide cushion if needed. there is also upper level seating. the concert hall has reasonably good acoustics. we watched a quartet and the sound from the instruments can be heard even at the end of the hall - beautiful and accurate.
Beautiful intimate place, lovely staff.
A long-established ethical organisation headquartered in this 1920's Art-Deco-ish building promoting and hosting lectures, talks, exhibitions, workshops, live music and a library. The renowned 'Sunday Concert' music recitals are varied, unfussy and set in a hall with surprisingly excellent acoustics. An exemplar - here there's much to admire and absorb.
A place that wreaks with the bygone age of Bertram Russel. Unique venue!
Wonderful place, once discovered a wormhole through time & space on a book table at a Fortean Times talking event. Whilst standing there in Conway Hall I was also present on the other side of the galaxy due to some flux in the quantum state of my being. I must say it was an extraordinary day out. Highly recommended.
