Friendly staff. Always keep all your documents, you never know what might be needed. Yeah.. buy prepaid envelope otherwise you have to run to the post office. Keep change in your pocket, they want exact money in cash only.. no credit or debit cards accepted.

My appointment on 06/12/17 at 11:30am went smoothly. The lady who checked our tourist visa application form was polite and helpful. However the security personnel at the initial reception point near the entrance, named Paul was a treasure. Without prompting he furnished me with very useful information regarding 12 and 60 months tourist visas. So big thank you Paul.

I went to the CGI, Birmningham for registering the birth of my child. Despite all my apprehensions based on the negative reviews here, I must admit I was pleasantly surprised by the way the things turned out. My appointment (11.30 on 27/03/2018) went off very smoothly. I had all documents in order so I did not have to face any major issues. The lady at the counter was very friendly and polite. I was keenly observing her explain the procedures/documents needed to various types of enquiries from people before me in the queue. She was very patient and sounded very helpful. The Consular officer who signed off my daughter's application was very friendly and polite too. And once you had exact change there were no problems with the payment of fees. I could finish off the whole process in 20 minutes. Although there is scope of improvement in the delivery of services in the CGI, I think the staff deserve credit where it is due. Personally I was very pleased with the way things turned out for me.

Typical Indian government office, no use of queing, multiple counters where you get the same documents checked over & over again, staff can't speak proper English or Hindi, make you run around like typical government office (had to sprint to the post office for an envelope they never had mentioned me to bring on their website), 10.45 appointment finally got done by noon (missed my train back home, had come from a place 3 and a half hours away). Didn't miss India for once!

I called them to ask something about passport and they answer to me but I just listen a conversation between a lady and a man. When I said hello, the man said hello to me and after cut the phone off. Shame!!! I have a baby 9 months Old and I got hold of you very hard because you don't hardly answer. I have to give you 163 phone calls to answer once and don't even help me with my problem! Unprofessional!!!
