If you are looking for an awesome Indian Spicy restaurant, then fret no more... Behold THE COCONUT LAGOON... Mindblowing food to be honest. The star attraction was the different varieties of Beef dishes which I believe you can’t find anywhere else in the UK. The staff were very friendly and good ambience. The food was really tasty and we even got some complimentary dishes. The place is easily accessible and very less waiting time. Verdict: Go and Enjoy, Have a Fab time with no concerns, Real value for money.

I absolutely loved this place. The cooking is sublime. Dhosa was perfection but the pleasant surprise for me was a chicken curry (cooked with lemon, coconut and almond paste) was not just subtle and complex in its flavours, it was also nicely spicy. I was pleased to find they can happily make your meal as spicy or mild as you like: my perception of Southern Indian cuisine was that it was always much less spicy than the usual Bangladeshi or Pakistani fare I enjoy. A mixed starter was gorgeous, but I have to say portions are big and it is easy to over order. Slightly off the main tourist circuit but still hand for central York you should seek this place out. It’s outstanding: six stars from me, Mr Fussy.

Some of the best Indian food I have ever eaten. The portions are huge! Some very interesting flavours I had not tried before, like the delicious sweet and sour date pickle!! Would definitely come back next time I'm in York!
