Awesome place!! The food is fantastic - I can recommend the slow cooked beef brisket; the beers are well kept - certainly all the 'Tributes' I tested were; And Steve and Dodger create a great, friendly atmosphere. And we came home with fresh duck eggs that are available from the bar!!! [Update - 21June2019] Went for a return visit. Just as awesome!! Had to have the brisket of beef again - slow cooked in Tribute Ale and Jack Daniels. Huge slab of beautiful beef that just falls apart in your mouth. And the sauce is so rich! Fantastic meal. And - of course Dodger came into the bar to see everyone. Thanks to all at the coalhouse inn, especially Steve and the chef, for a really great evening.
We were on a long walk from Tewkesbury. Lovely pub but beware it's not always open and only had a choice of bottled beer. Landlady very nice
cosy riverside pub. very welcoming and friendly staff. excellent food. Barman knows his trade, especially gins. efficient service. Advance booking essential, only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday and often fully booked.
We both had ham egg and chips which was excellent. The pub looks a bit run down and was serving only bottled products on the lunchtime we visited, but they were all well chilled. Service was friendly.
First time visiting due to recommendation. Food was just brilliant, the pork belly was the size of my forearm! value for money is great! the atmosphere was your usual local pub, hustling and bustling! the manager has great charisma about him and very chatty and welcoming! wouldn't hesitate to visit again
They're trying, but Covid seems to have had a lasting effect. No draught beer or soft drinks. Staff were helpful, but its not the experience we thought it would be; Other reviews on here are pre-Covid. Limited opening hours, so check before you go. Understandably, as a traditional pub, maintaining a detailed online presence is not their number one priority :
Excellent briskets. Fine ambience. Steve was a great host.made us feel very welcome. Great selection of wines and ales. Nice horse everything will become clear. Don't confuse this place with the Coal Bar and grill at the Quays which quite a few reviewers seem to have done on Trip Advisor. This place is honestly great.
Amazing place and amazing food. Steak on the stone was most amazing steak I’ve ever tasted. Host was second to none - and even his shetland pony made an appearance! Will be coming back again soon! Make sure you book in advance as it is popular and like animals roaming around the place - personally I love it!
Fantastic food, amazing host. The food is the best quality we have tasted in as long as any of our group could remember and the price is very affordable. Steve, the host, is a great guy making everybody feel welcome and has a justified pride in his food. The atmosphere was perfect and we would all love to return again soon. I would recommend to all.
Good setting, simple pub grub. No draught at time of visit only bottles Staff friendly
