A great restaurant, with friendly, attentive staff! One of the best burgers I have ever eaten, delicious flavour and lovely presentation. Will come again!
Been to Clive's twice now, with my wife and on one occasion we also brought a friend along. My wife is American, and we honestly feel this is one of the most authentic "American style" diners anywhere in London. On both occasions there were other Americans eating there, and they even have a USA map for Satisfied US customers to pin their home city. The menu is probably what you'd expect, burgers, chicken, fries, salad. The burgers are made from top quality beef, they really taste like ground steak. burgers themselves are put together thoughtfully with the items accompanying the meat working well together and reflecting the same quality. The sides are fantastic, especially the zucchini chips, triple cooked fries, onion rings and mac & cheese which are thoroughly recommended. We knew what we were hoping for and we got it. The place isn't large and the atmosphere is buzzing without being too noisy. They do take bookings over the phone. Staff are very friendly and service was swift on both occasions. Thoroughly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic American diner experience in London. We haven't found a fault yet!
Came on a Saturday afternoon for lunch with a friend. It's pretty small inside, but we were seated quickly and the staff are very friendly. Their chicken burger was very nice, but think their fries could do with a little more work. The Oreo milkshake was nice as well! Would come again if I am ever in the area.
Lovely small diner just opposite the British Museum. The service is great, and has a really friendly atmosphere. Try the pulled pork burger - it was very tasty indeed, especially in the standard potato. Prices were also really reasonable for such a prime location! Give this a try and you won't be disappointed.
Absolutely delicious food - even the entry-level 'Clive Burger' is a revelation with its 'potato bun' and special sauce. Couldn't be tastier. The three-time fired fries were perfect, honest-to-god real potatoes, cooked perfectly. Non-meat eaters are well looked after with a marvellous sweet potato burger and other offerings. Cold, London-brewed craft beer to compliment the food was just right. Try the ice cream, also local and superb. A very comfortable diner with a first-class chef, lovely staff and excellent food. This should be winning some awards soon. If you enjoy a good burger, get on down to Clive's Midtown. REAL proper burgers!!
We were welcomed by the very friendly staff, and it just got better from there. Very quickly our waitress arrived with a bucket of colouring supplies for our four year old and books for the baby. She took our orders and before long we had our BLT, avocado on toast, and pancakes. Everything delicious. The staff was very attentive to our needs throughout it all. Highly recommended.
Amazing chicken burger. An absolute must try. Extremely good price for quality of food and service. Two people eating there, a couple of beers, two sides and two main was just £23! We were very surprised at the bill and would have gladly paid more for the great food.
Such friendly staff, I told my waiter how much I liked a meal and he asked the chef to come to tell me how he'd made it and went through what my sister could eat that was gluten free. This was a novelty! The diner really looks like how I've imagined a genuine one to look, apart from being around the corner from the British Museum. Great, generous food.
Came here just before visiting the Secret Studio escape game opposite. The food was really good - I am assured the burgers were nice but as a veggie I went for the quinoa wrap which was tasty and unusual, a rare combination! We also went for loads of sides including the really good chickpea fries. And of course, the hard shakes. Just, yum. A meal in itself though - be warned! The people working here were really friendly and even surprised us with a discount for being repeat customers and probably talking really loudly and enthusiastically about how good everything was!
If you're looking for great American style pancakes in London not crepe thin or sponge thick, an authentic neighborhood feel, basic menu done really really well, and friendly service conversation with the owner...whose likely the one flipping your cakes this is your place. I'm from the US, have lived in London for ~2 years, and have been searching for a place to get pancakes that remind me of my hometown diner. You name it, I've tried it. From upscale boozy brunch spots to greasy spoons...and hadn't found my place. Until now. Clive's pancakes are the best straightforward, unpretentious pancakes I've had in the UK...hands down...fluffy, moist, medium thickness, good ingredients, done with a sense of nostalgia by the owner.
