Had dinner here with my family Of 4 yesterday . Menu was great , food tasted good but the service was pretty poor. Running two bars myself I never post bad reviews but when the man in charge seemed to be celebrating that the pub was “dead” it did raise cause for concern. When we first arrived there was a lady who seated us short dark hair who took our order & seemed lovely. After her shift finished we counted at least 6 waiting staff all serving at the restaurant side of the bar. No one was greeting customers as they arrived & the staff would stare at in-walkers then debate who would then go greet & seat customers this happened three times during our visit My family and I were sat at the table closest to the bar and could over hear staff conversations many of which were unprofessional. We had to ask for the dessert menu ourselves then order ourselves at the bar as the staff were all too engaged with each other’s conversations. When dessert finally arrived we had to clear our table ourselves as the staff didn’t acknowledge that our table needed cleared. There was a lot of waiting around for drinks frustrating when it’s not busy & you can see 5 staff essentially doing nothing It took 15 minutes for the staff to bring my 3 year olds forgotten ice cream out, what made it more uncomfortable was two team members debating after 10 minutes of us waiting weather the order had been sent through to the kitchen or not. We were in the Clachan for around 2 hours all in due to the slow and poor service, In that time we seen 6 tables seated , none of which seemed to be receiving good service. The whole set up seemed quite hectic , no clear roles and systems for the staff. Untrained staff standing behind the bar not acknowledging customers needs , communication was terrible. It’s a shame as the food tasted good and the venue is lovely just the customer service needed a bit of work.
Surprise visit with my son and daughter for my birthday celebration. Great welcome... friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Quite busy on the night, pre booking is advisable. Seems very popular, not only with tourists, but the locals, who were also quite used to the great service and ambience of this very attractive venue. Expect to pay that little extra, as the food menu alone is of the highest quality... not only that, but the different whiskey menus offer everything from the first time taster... to the experienced connoisseur... Cocktails galore... and the facilities & local amenities close at hand. Well worth the trip, only a half an hour drive from Glasgow city centre, and the quality of fare on offer... I, very much, recommend this establishment ! Parking: The parking out front of the building is close and easily accessible... however, the actual road/path itself was a wee bit awkward for my visually impaired son, as there were a few potholes and puddles leading up to the dimly lit entrance of the restaurant. Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible for wheelchair users. Dietary restrictions: There are some alternative options for those who don't really appreciate a full, hearty feast !
Vegan options were delicious, as were the salmon. Staff were authentically hospitable and created a very warm and inviting atmosphere. We felt welcomed in after a full day of hiking and travel. Whisky options were numerous. Whisky recommendations were right on the mark. We were so grateful to find our way to this restaurant and the associated Inn.
Staying in Drymen and our host recommended this pub to us, amazing recommendation our food was delicious, servers were very attentive and service was very quick for the food being homemade. Food portions are very big and very fairly priced. Toilet facilities were extremely clean as well. We can't wait for our next trip to come here again to eat. Food & drinks: Extensive menu, something for everyone Noteworthy details: Oldest licensed pub in Scotland Vegetarian options: Lots of pizza and pasta options Kid-friendliness: Lots of families were eating in while we were here didn't have children in our party Parking: Fair amount of parking Dietary restrictions: Lots of vegetarian options and gluten free
Nice family meal in lovely surroundings. Staff were friendly. Macaroni cheese had a strange taste so wouldn't recommend! Did advise the staff however no apology or refund which wasn't ideal as put a damper on our meal.
Thoroughly enjoyed a beautiful Sunday lunch at The Clachan to celebrate our Mum’s birthday. The service was friendly and efficient, our server Hanna was absolutely lovely! The quality of the food was excellent and I’d highly recommend the Sunday beef roast. We had booked in advance and would recommend that you do so as the restaurant was very busy.
Such a lovely little pub. Good selection of beers and with friendly and welcoming staff. We didn't eat here but the food being served looked really good. Hope to be able to return in the future to sample the food as well as the beer and atmosphere!Service: 5/5
Ate here 3 times during our week holiday. The food is always excellent whatever we have chosen. It has become our go to place to eat when we visit the area. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back when we're next up here. Such a shame it's a 550 mile round trip.Service: 5/5
