We specialise in airport transfers and courier service as well as general taxi services.

At City Private Hire & Minibuses Ltd we provide 135 reliable vehicles ranging from 4 to 8 seats all to a high clean standard and all vehicles are fitted with PDA’s and GPS system. All our drivers are CRB cleared, friendly and always happy to help. We also have an 8 seater minibus available with wheelchair access at selected times (this must be booked in advance).

I've never used taxis before but as I was at a Christmas party last night and it was very late, I had no option but to book one. I chose City Taxis because they were just around around the corner from King Georges Hall so I reasoned they would turn up a lot quicker than the other companies. I booked a taxi through their office and waited outside for it to turn up. Sure enough a car with their logo on turned up moments later and, not familiar with how taxis work, I approached it and asked if it was the taxi for me. He asked where I was going which I assumed was a way of making sure I was his fare. When I told him, he said that's fine and to get in. "Great!" I thought as I jumped into the car. 5 minutes later I received a text message from the company telling me my taxi was waiting for me outside, a silver Honda Accord. I was sitting in a black Audi A4. Soon after my actual taxi driver called me wondering where I was so had I to awkwardly explain that I was already in one of their taxis. I don't think he was too happy that one of his own colleagues had stolen his fare. I wasn't too bothered about being in the wrong taxi as such. I'm a 6'2 guy and still had my wits about me. Had I been a drunk 5'2 woman I would probably have been terrified. What bothered me was that I was in a taxi that I had not booked so if there was a crash, there would be no insurance to cover it. Also, £14 for a 5 mile journey seemed awfully steep though I don't know if that had something to do with it being very late at night.

Sick of being made to feel uncomfortable cause I pay by card . Simply cause they can't over charge

Drivers have no intention of providing a good customer user experience. Bad mannered, rude, terrible grasp of the English language, the list is endless. Won't pickup from where you have booked, expect you to walk to them just because they aren't familiar with the pickup point. I don't think the actual owners of the company are bothered what sort of service is being provided on behalf of them as long as they are making money. I have looked all other reviews which are pretty much similar to what I have encountered. The only positive reviews seem to be written by the drivers or office staff themselves. Highly recommend you stay away from this company, unfortunately Blackburn do not have any alternative company that can provide a positive user experience.

The absolute worst service that can ever be provided. Not just taxis, every service ever in general. Useless bunch of morons who don't take responsibility for anything, lie over the phone and can be an hour late, and try over-charging you at every opportunity. Do yourself a favour and ring a different firm... B&B are excellent in comparison.

The taxi drivers always overcharge and ask for more money. The taxi fare is shown on the phone near the dashboard. Each driver switches it off upon you entering the taxi and states a different price to what is stated. When reasoning they give you random excuses and still try to rip you off!
