Good but not outstanding! Candlelight atmosphere. Service was ok. The menu is short but extensive. Every dish was well prepared, flavourful and tasty. Wine glasses should perhaps be updated and the spicy dishes pointed out on the menu.Food: 4/5
Chutney Mary provided an unforgettable birthday celebration, thanks to its fantastic blend of great food, atmosphere, and service. My sisters treated me to a meal there, and it couldn’t have been a better choice for the occasion. The food was truly a highlight—elegantly presented and bursting with flavors. Each dish seemed thoughtfully prepared, with a modern twist on traditional Indian cuisine. Whether you’re after rich curries or delicately spiced appetizers, the menu caters to a range of tastes, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was equally impressive, offering an upscale yet welcoming vibe. The décor was stylish, with subtle touches of Indian influence that created a warm and inviting environment. It felt like a special place to celebrate, with the perfect balance of elegance and comfort. Service was another standout. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, making sure we were well taken care of throughout the evening. From thoughtful recommendations to timely service, they enhanced the experience, making it feel even more personal and special for a birthday celebration. Overall, Chutney Mary provided the perfect setting for a memorable birthday meal. Whether you’re celebrating or just enjoying a great evening out, this restaurant delivers on every front—food, atmosphere, and service. Highly recommend!
The appetizers were the shining star of the place. All were very very good we got the paneer, lamb samosa, and chaat - highly recommend. The entrees were good but mildly disappointing since the apps were so unique and eclectic. We had to constantly keep asking for water - they should leave a carafe on the table. Service was friendly.
Chutney Mary was an unforgettable experience, it truly lives up to its reputation as London’s premier Indian restaurant. The lobster starter was outstanding, and every dish was a perfect blend of spices, delivering authentic flavors with a refined touch. The service was attentive, matching the restaurant’s high-end atmosphere. The dimly lit, romantic setting made for a memorable dining experience, though be prepared for the prices that reflect the quality. A friend brought me here, and it definitely came highly recommended for anyone seeking top-tier Indian cuisine.
This restaurant delivers more than just food—it offers an experience that feels a cut above. The standout dishes for me were the Fried Prawns, Lamb Chops, Butter Chicken Masala, and Bengal Lamb Curry. The Mango Chili Daiquiri was a lovely cocktail, and while I didn’t try it myself, the Apple Halwa Tart came highly recommended by a colleague. The service was impeccable—easy to get attention by a number of staff without being intrusive. Located in one of London’s nicer areas, it’s clear this isn’t your average Indian restaurant. Owned by the same people behind Veeraswamy and Amaya, this place is obviously known for delivering quality dining experiences with a modern twist on Indian cuisine. While the prices reflect the quality, it’s worth it for a special occasion. Definitely a memorable dining experience, perfect for when you want something more upmarket without being pretentious. Looking forward to heading back to try more of the menu! Expect to pay around £175 per head for a couple of starters, a couple of mains, accompanying naans, a dessert, two cocktails and service charge.
We were a party of eight people who went here for dinner. Our hosts highly recommended this restaurant, and they were right. The restaurant looks like an English pub from the outside, but inside, it's a very posh and luxurious setting that is perfect for an entertaining night out in central London. The place is quite large, multileveled, and with separate bar- and dining areas. The staff are discreet and polite, and they will cater to your every need. Food: This is high-end, authentic South Indian cuisine, so expect hot spices, chillies, savoury sauces, and many small plates and dishes on the table. All your traditional expected dishes are on the menu, and you should order three or four dishes per person or share to have a filling experience. The food is expensive. There are no condiments or sides, so you'll be spending more than you normally do on Indian food. But the food is worth it. It's delicious and satisfying. Vegetarian options: Many indian dishes are natively vegetarian, and they have most selections Dietary restrictions: True indian dishes with true indian spices, means HEAT and savoury sauces. Fingerlicking good ;- Parking: Its central London, so get a taxi Kid-friendliness: Nope. Adults night out Wheelchair accessibility: Nope. Multi-levelled, toilets in the basement
Overall 3.5/5, Great ambiance and food, poor service Was looking forward to visiting this place. We had a dinner last summer and was impressed by the overall luxurious ambiance, however we were left a little baffled by the service condescending mostly in tone by the main host. This is something i have been observing in high end Indian dining places, as Indians going to Indian places , I could the stark difference in quality of reception by the staff between Indians and non Indians. The quality of food was good: tried all their recommended vegetarian dishes Panner starter, dal , curries Breads were on point as well.
The behaviour of the staff is 0 out of 5, especially the staff memeber Mr James and another one who was wearing glasses and had a beard. They were extremely disrespectful to us as the customer and they were very harsh on the waiters aswell. Which I found quite unprofesional.Food: 4/5
The food is phenomenal in terms of taste. We ordered: Vegetable samosa 10/10 Venison deer samosa 8/10 Roasted potatoes with spring onion 9/10 Avocado Salad 7/10 tastes good but not a salad! Butter Chicken 9/10 Naan bread 10/10 Lamb Biryani 8/10 My main reason for the rating is that the service is soooooooo slow and the food is super spicy for the average person nobody asked what level of spicy would we prefer Portions are very small compared to the the asburd prices listed, even for a fine dining restaurant. Worth a try. Personally will visit again, worth a second chance!
We had the pleasure of dining here for my wife's birthday celebration. The food was delicious, and she thoroughly enjoyed the ambience and exceptional service. Overall, it was a delightful and memorable date.Food: 5/5
