Went with our friends for a dinner and we all loved it. It is without a doubt one of the most delicious Indian restaurants in London. The atmosphere in this restaurant is very romantic. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Everything they suggested trying was beyond delicious. Highly recommend this place to everyone, especially Indian food lovers.
The original restaurant in India is the only restaurant from India which is on the list of the World Best 50 restaurants. Their London branch is not less though. Creative dishes in a fine dining style but still full of taste. We were a group of 8 and there was not a single dish that was not excellent. Decor is simple and basic. I would have given a 5 star rating if it was not for the disjointed service which started in a welcoming and efficient way but became slow and inefficient once the restaurant got busy. It was clear that they were under stuffed. What was really disappointing and gave us an indication that the restaurant doesn’t have a concept of customer service was when we asked for an ice cream that was on the set menu. The waiter was helpful; said that it should not be an issue but had to ask the manager who rejected the request and said they will only serve it had we ordered the set menu. I don’t understand why. It was just a dessert and we were going to pay for it. It is not a big issue but would have expected more of customer service and guest appreciation. I ordered a tea and they forgot about it but they included it in the bill. Need to be careful and check the bill.
Excellent progressive Indian. Delicious menu that is creative and offers an exciting yet authentic flavor palette. They have a notable brunch menu. Take a look at the tea menu which offers many rare teas. Expect posh Mayfair ambience. Music played in the restaurant needs desperate revival from its current elevator music.
Really beautiful setting. Service was professional and friendly. The food is an experience; very creative and unique. It is a modern take on Indian food, which sometimes became a bit too modern and swayed too far from traditional Indian flavours. Although this may be a matter of personal opinion. Overall a lovely night.
Fantastic modern Style Indian food! Everything was tasty and balanced... maybe except the dessert I was the only one ordering a dessert and it was not matching the meal standards! The service is of course excellent ! It is pricey 70 pound per person with just one glass of red wine ! But it is worth !
The food could be described as Nuevo Indian as the classics are reinvented with beautiful flavour and depth and someone has taken the time to construct. What you get is small portions but absolutely epic flavour. That staff are very knowledgeable and present themselves in a friendly manner and have banter, Definitely worth visit
Fantastic restaurant. Starters - Morels with papad Mid course - Ribs, fantastically cooked meat fell off the bone Main course - lamb - Soft lamb texture felt like it was slow cooked. Unbelievable flavours. Been to all the top Indian restaurants in London and this is certainly right up there. Located close to I presume it's rival Gym Khana and definitely is as good if not better value for money.
Lovely decor, Fantastic taste and good presentation of food. Would prefer the 5 course taster menu rather than 8 as it has more options to choose from. Definitely expensive one but worth for special occasion.
Incredible food, perfectly balanced flavours, spices and heat. You feel the chef has taken a no compromise attitude, but still managed to track a path that will please almost anyone. Decor is chic and understated and the ambiance very relaxed; there's no snobbery here. A mention must also go to the staff and service which was simply excellent. They were all smiles, showed just the right amount of attentiveness and were happy to answer any questions. 5* from me.
A new and upscale Indian restaurant more befitting of the area than the previous Chor Bizarre though that was a fun restaurant. Service is almost as slick as other high end restaurants and not quite as formal. The staff are able to explain the dishes well but weren't sure about the signature dishes or the ones from the Delhi original. The amuse-bouche of blue cheese naan and pumpkin and coconut shorba was delicious. Kashmiri morels, walnut powder, parmesan papad was a very good starter with 2 light flavoursome morels. The potato sphere chaat, white pea mash was just like good chaat except with other flavours added - mainly the mashed peas. Soy keema, quail egg, lime leaf butter pao was subtly different from usual keema and pao. The quail egg was a good addition and the pao was just right not much of it though. Meetha achaar ribs, sundried mango, onion seeds was a standout 'mid course' item with the crunchy mango slice perfectly accompanying the tender meat. Mains were not as good with seared scallops, rava prawns, malvani dried shrimp rice being overpowered by the sauce and rice the scallops were excellent though. The ghee roast lamb, roomali roti pancakes were in the style of Peking duck complete with cucumber slices and 4 sauces. This didn't work as the lamb curry didn't need the sauces the roti would have been good with the lamb on its own. But it is a playful dish I suppose. The accompaniments were good - smoky bacon kulcha a little too salty. Green pea and quinoa pulao was OK but had an interesting wasabi cucumber raita. Dessert was another high point: Makhan malai, saffron milk, rose petal jaggery brittle, almonds was a very airy souffle version of the very sweet Indian dessert. It looks huge when placed in front of you but is certainly manageable - and you can savour more spoonfuls than your fellow diners. Doda barfi treacle tart, vanilla bean ice cream was also as good with a light unsweetened ice cream matching the sweet heavy tart. Cocktails were so-so and pricey we had green chilli sour and Mughal fortification. Slightly better than Gymkhana and most other high-end Indian restaurants I've been to in London.
