Great place for recreation, having fun with the kids on the lawn or playground, enjoying picnics or just watching the world passing by. A big bonus is the Harvester Restaurant right on the grounds, which is lovely for a nice cool drink or even a meal.
The staff here are really lovely however there is something not right with the workflow or the kitchen simply isn't big enough. It took an hour and five minutes for our food to arrive and we were by no means exceptional. If they can resolve this issue then this will be a great place for a family meal. Vegetarian options: Chilli non carne was good, the skewers were very tempting Kid-friendliness: Quite literally every generation were enjoying time together when we visited Parking: Free parking right outside Wheelchair accessibility: Ramped entrances from both the garden and the car park. There were scooters and wheel chairs in the restaurant when we visited
I liked the waitress, Abi, she was extremely nice and fun. They've taken too many people for what they can handle. Didn't like the extremely long wait. We booked a table and had to wait 35 mins, 4 sets of people who walked in got tables before us. You had to wait for people to serve you in the salad bar and some people had to wait for at least 15 minutes. They ran out of plates and bowls at the salad bar, the rolls were frozen cold. Dinner was fairly fast, came out in just over half an hour about the same time as the table wait, gave up with desert. Dinner was okay, the other people I was with didn't like theirs.
We’ve just eaten at the Beech Hurst Harvester in the way back from a wet and windy afternoon on the beach. I had the dirty vegan burger and to be honest it was a bit over cooked as veggie burgers often are as they don’t need to be cooked as long as meat ones. I mainly came in here to write a review because of our fab waitress, Chloe. She went above and beyond the usual service. She checked out a few voucher offers that we had, to see if they worked, and was so helpful with our two little fussy eaters one veg dodger, one with no front teeth even getting a few chips extra for them so they didn’t have to share a plate. She was a natural with them, which led to the littlest one declaring his love to her! So thank you so much Chloe! Keep on doing what you do as you’re a gem give this amazing woman a bonus!
Cheryl was angelically kind when we came to the restaurant. She has a lot of courage to serve her clients the way she does. I had the impression of being served at home by my mom! So I want to thank Cheryl once again for this great time. If I come back to this restaurant, it will be as much to see Cheryl again as to eat something.
Went for a lovely Christmas meal with colleagues. Wonderful places to have great meal. Lovely staff, especially the bartender who made a lovely passion fruit Martin.Food: 5/5
Lovely food and lovely server. We had had a lovely family evening. Vegetarian options: There is a selection of vegetarian options. I had the vegetarian chilli. I'm not a vegetarian but found it tasty. Kid-friendliness: Server was amazing with our and others children. Parking: Plenty of parking spaces. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible. Wide doors. Ramp. Light doors to open. Dietary restrictions: Server asked if anyone had any allergies.
This is a new review based on one visit on April 11th, 2023 at around 12:00. You have to now wait to be seated at a table. There was no one present to seat us when we entered. It has been refurbished, to be honest I noticed little difference. One of the double small tables we were seated at was so rocked enough to easily spill drinks and would have been a nightmare to eat off, some attempt had been made to wedge it with napkins previously and this was attempted by our server when we told them about it! The lunch menu was very typical pub lunch stuff but I was very surprised at the price hike from the old very reasonable to the new medium/top end of pub grub price range. Salad bar is free but you have to wait to be given a bowl and the selection though limited is adequate. Rolls were present but no butter or spreads were obvious, perhaps you need to ask, a sign of cost cutting? The rolls also did not seem fresh baked just defrosted? My companion had a chicken Cajun wrap with chips, the children both had fish fingers and chips and I played safe with Cod and chips. Report on the grub. The children were happy with what they received and there is an option for bigger appetites. The Cajun wrap and accompanying chips were fine but average. The Cod and chips was below par, the batter was soggy underneath and the fish although white and flakey was fairly bland. The usual commercial chips were accompanied by a small pot of peas and some tartare that seemed to have developed a thin skin between kitchen an table. We also had two small bottles of 7 up and two mugs of tea. Time to get the mains was average but we waited longer to get the bill. Total cost was just under 50 pounds. Make your own mind up about the value. For me the highlight used to be the superb staff, despite working long hours they were all without exception happy, helpful and exceptionally good at keeping the customer happy. Now it was difficult to tell some staff from customers due to lack of identity. I was not impressed with the service speed now, an older couple were seated near us but left possibly due to the delay in taking orders. Having said that, our server was very pleasant, and seemed hard working but I wonder if there are enough staff now? Cost cutting?
Love the atmosphere here. Feels homely and welcoming. A bit disappointing that a fair bit of the menu was not available which is the same at other harvester venues a d salad bar was lacking compared to others. Good is nice and customer service always great but the lack of certain items becoming a bit of themeFood: 3/5
I love a harvester breakfast, thought it would be a great idea for mother's day. It was my first time at this location and we were incredibly disappointed, it was a little busy which was to be expected and normally I wouldn't mind a few issues here and there but this was far too much. Food took around 30 minutes to come out, this is fine but some of it came out cold and undercooked, my cutlery was also dirty, toast took an hour to come after asking 2 different people 3 times we were quickly forgotten, this also came out cold and the plates provided for the toast came out very dirty and I'm not just talking crumbs, I'm talking what looked to be mayo and maybe something chocolate smeared on the top and bottom of the plates which looked like they were just stacked up dirty. We asked for some juice at the same time as the toast, this also took an hour, one of our party had a coffee, the milk jug has something floating in it, we asked for a new one and we're quickly brought one but later found the same thing floating around which lead us to believe it was the same milk put in a different jug. A few other issues too but I will not carry on. I also work in hospitality and know how hard it can be when things get busy so I'm not normally one to complain but this was very bad.
