One of my favourite pub for dinner as I came here many time last year to enjoy the good food unfortunately today disappointed me. As today was the last time went here ! maybe the new staff never seen them before should take some knowledge about cooking .. Fish tasted raw fish , not cooked inside .. outside was burnt and oily, chips ..left in oil probably from 2 days ago..also boneless chicken strips were burned on outside .. 20 minutes after i comeback home i felt awful.. With stomach pain…
This used to be a lovely pub serving nice food. Recent years the food has become worse and worse. I live local and keep thinking I will give it another try and each time I am disappointed. If you are looking for a good food pub in this area go to the Woodlands!!!!!!!! I have attached a picture of the last meal at the butcher's arms. The peas where watery. Chips hard and onion rings taste disgusting. The gammon was OK. As you can see that is all I ate. 2 stars for the nice staff and drinks
To start with the food was very nice, they can’t be faulted at that. But other than that the service definitely needs a lot of improving. The young girl who served us was not at all approachable and made it very clear she would rather be doing anything else other than serving us. We asked for cutlery and she pointed to the knives and 2 forks left by the previous table, baring in mind there was 3 of us at the table, assuming she expected us to take turns with the forks. As I said before, we enjoyed the food but would not return as the whole situation felt uncomfortable due to the lack of rapport with the staff.
Updated 16/11/22 We followed up on Gary, the manager's, offer to rebook and give them another chance to rectify the unfortunate ' welcome' we had on 21/10/22. I can't recommend them enough. What a change from the last failed visit. The food was great as was the service. Our party of 3 enjoyed the whole afternoon spent there and won't hesitate to book again. Thank you for a lovely afternoon. I didn't even make it into the pub to eat. Myself and 2 others stopped there on 21st October just before 7pm. We hadn't booked so 1 of our party went inside to see if a table was available. It was busy but there was a reserved table available that wasn't needed for the next 2 hours . It was explained to the young female working there that I use a power wheelchair so would need 2 chairs moving so as to access the table. She refused to remove 2 chairs and repeatedly said she could only move 1. Even though I was waiting outside, I felt totally embarrassed and humiliated that, in effect, I was being denied access for the sake of 2 chairs being removed from a table.
Just had lunch with my parents. Food was very good. Got 3 meals an 3 drinks for £22. Great value. bogof Thursday on the burgers what was a bonus. Great service and well organised. Thanks. Pictures frim a different day.
Called in for a drink last Thursday. Warm atmosphere & busy pub. Noticed lots of meals being served so we decided to look at menu. Understood then why so busy as different very reasonably priced offers on menu. Agreed we would definitely visit again soon & next time have a meal.
Went here with our grandchildren lovely food great service nice atmosphere give it a try
Had our Christmas lunch here through the week and it was nothing short of disappointing. The prawn taco starter still had the shell in, the turkey was cold and the roast potatoes had been cook the previous day and reheated. There were 25 of us and quite a few left there mains. The reason for two stars are the staff were nice really let down by the chef and the coffee was ok. First time here and the last.
The food was nice but the staff are in desperate need of some customer service training. The man behind the bar looked miserable and so did the red-haired girl who served us. You would think that asking if a table was available or if we could have cutlery was a simple request but by the looks we were given, it was obviously an inconvenience to them both. There was not a single smile on either of their faces and were both generally unpleasant. We felt uncomfortable being there and left as soon as we had ate and paid. After reading previous reviews, it’s quite clear that our experience with the staff is not a one-off and is definitely something that needs to be looked into by senior management. I have never wrote or left a review before today but felt it necessary on this occasion.
Been this pub a few times for meals and in the past found it to be decent. but after finding a hair in my burger staff being generally unwelcoming and food portions getting increasingly smaller I feel that this place has gone down hill and won't be returning
