Bury Transport Museum

Didn't know this place existed. Took the kids on a steam train from Rawtenstall to Bury. Had a 'picnic' on the train, on the way there. Because we came to Bury on the train, the ticket inspector said we got free entry to the museum. We had some time to wait for the train home so we looked for the museum. Right across the road from the station. Friendly welcome on arrival. Its only a small museum but there was lots to see, and the kids enjoyed it. They liked the old fire engine and tractors. There is the front end of a bus which the kids enjoyed 'driving' and some costumes to dress up in. Didn't take long to look round but enjoyed it.

A lovely little Museum. Been done up well (Its way better than Manchester one!) You can spend a good hour here, especially good considering it's free to visit. Lots of stuff to see and do. And good fun for kids. It's worth combining a trip on the steam train next door... Or using this place to wait for the train.

A great place to visit for all the family. It is located just across the road from the east Lancashire train station on Bolton Street Bury. Even my 7year old grand daughter who says boring to everything....said Not Boring as she was busy with the visit there. So that's a big thumbs up from her! Interesting for adults and tons of interactive stuff for kids.....and it's free !!

Some fantastic nostalgic vehicles on display, from bicycles to delivery lorries, fire engines and railway rolling stock. A good hour or so with the family. Recommended 😁.

Really enjoyed my visit to the transport museum. An amazing place for children to learn about buses and trains
