Story

Broughton Veterinary group is a friendly small animal and farm animal veterinary practice in Leicestershire with two branches in Broughton Astley and Lutterworth. We have seven mixed vets who are supported by a team of nurses, receptionists and administrators. Our staff aim to provide professional, high quality healthcare for all our patients in a caring and relaxed environment.

Our main clinic in Broughton Astley is open from 8.30am until 6.30pm Monday to Friday, and 8.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday mornings. We also provide a 24 hour emergency cover for small animals and farm animals from within our own workforce, giving you the peace of mind that comes with continuity of care.

In addition to the day to day healthcare of your pets (including booster vaccinations and neutering), we have the facilities to perform dental procedures, emergency surgery, x-rays and ultrasound scans. We also have an in-house laboratory for blood tests, urine tests and skin investigations. Our farm vets offer numerous services include routine fertility visits, herd health planning and monitoring, mastitis investigations, castrations, dehorning, and of course care of sick animals. The in house laboratory in our Lutterworth branch offers faecal worm egg counts and bull fertility testing.

Our nurses in both clinics run advice and practical sessions throughout the day on topics such as flea and worm treatment, weight management, nail trims, microchipping, behaviour and puppy training amongst lots more.

Absolutely fantastic service from the minute you walk through the door. Reception staff amazing and the vets are as well. Couldn’t do more to help. My dog has been diagnosed with diabetes. The vet explained everything really well. When collecting the meds etc. reception staff even sorted our insurance. I know they can’t do it for every insurance company. But they could for the company we go through and nothing was too much trouble.
Very good. Vet was a charming young man who took the time to explain everything. He put my dog at her ease and did a thorough check of her. The receptionists were also very nice and friendly. Everyone was so helpful. Far better than it has been in the past when run by others Will definitely recommend this vets now.
My absolute favorite veterinary practice in Leicester. I cannot rave enough about how wonderful the staff has been in helping our sweet kitty Fish go from a neglected stray to a loved baby. Thank you guys so much!!
The lady vet was scared of my cat and wouldn't do a full health check. I had to open my cats mouth for her so she could take a look. The male vet was great and had no issues giving a full check over. The wait time is long, though. If it's an appointment or just to collect flea/worming stuff, you have to wait age.
My pet has been registered with this vet for nearly 10years, and having flee drops and worm tablets over these years without any unnecessary visit due to no changes, but today i came across an issue that to have flee drops you need to stress out your cat to actually just take him to the vet so they can say yes you need same drops as you have been using all the time, PAY 25£ fee for attendance PLUS EXTRA COST FOR A DROPS AND WORM TABLETwhich was already well overpriced anyway !!! This is not just ridiculous, but very frustrating and dissapointing. Making money off people during such a hard times already and putting pets under unnecessary stress is unacceptable behaviour!!!! Shame on the management who let these things to happen!
Last visit today to the King Richards Road practice. How sad for the girls - last day in two weeks time for them, after years of loyal service. Don't understand the decision and the practice will be sadly missed. Lets hope a last minute decision saves King Richards Road
Missed late stage cancer in my dog even with obvious symptoms. End of life care was poor and when the time came to have him PTS she was more concerned with getting out of the room fast. Reception staff great, vet terrible
Very nice staff, always accomodating, quick and helpful. Little Trenton loves all the vets and they love her. Would recommend to others.
Chris and the reception staff are the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. Feel comfortable taking my cats there knowing that they will be cared for and looked after professionally everytime. Thanks everyone!
We sadly had a bad experience throughout the two years at this practice and wish we moved vets earlier as now we know it can be so much better! From non transparent pricing that changes every time you're there to unprofessional care, we've experienced it all. Some examples: our dog appeared to have an ear infection or dermatitis on the outer ear. The male vet A. saw some wax inside his ear and was attempting to remove it with small tweezers ?!! until we asked him to stop as it didn't look safe, the dog was twitching and his ear cannal could've been damaged in no time. Also, it wasn't the main problem anyway! Then our dog started obsessively licking his top teeth and nose. We saw something stuck on both sides of his front teeth and tried everything to remove it ourselves. After all types of toothbrushes failed, we took him to the vet, who barely attempted to remove it and simply prescribed an antibacterial gel ? for his mouth. Much later, during the emergency visit below for smth else, the vet at another practice was able to remove it straight away and said there was lots of hair trapped inside. No amount of antibacterial gel would've helped us. Lastly, our dog had an episode of severe pain and stomach issues bloody diarrhoea and abdominal pain that would stop him from moving and was seen in an emergency. Then naturally, we followed this up at our vets as he was still not fully himself. The same male vet A. showed little interest in hearing all the history and hyper focused on one symptom occasional scratchiness amongst everything else, and injected anti-allergy meds, which made no difference to how the dog was feeling. Later it also turned out what a poor note keeping practice is being followed over there, as when we wanted to claim the expenses for the continuous problem, the vets entry was one sentence long and had absolutely nothing about the main problem stomach/digestive issues/pain. Needless to say we could never claim the expenses and had to investigate the stomach problems elsewhere. We called multiple times to clarify and the vet never dared to speak to us directly. Even though we understand how busy and overworked vets are and that compassionate fatigue is real, this vet's approach was something else. Cynical comments and minimal information, having to drag every word out of him and questions were met with a judgemental look and a dismissive comment of "it's probably nothing". Each visit was stressful, knowing we'll have to fight to get anything done and whatever is done may not be of any relevance to the problem anyway. As new dog owners, we genuinely thought this is just how things are but now that we changed practices we can guarantee it can be SO much more professional elsewhere. So if you're unsure about the care your pet is getting but feel scared to have it worse if you change, please just follow your gut feeling and keep looking!
