Brocket Arms

Story

The Brocket Arms is a country inn in Ayot St. Lawrence, Hertfordshire, England. According to Historic England, the timber-framed building is probably early sixteenth century, although an earlier date has been claimed. The Brocket Arms is near Old St Lawrence Church, and, was supposedly "the monastic quarters" for the church until the Reformation. Another claim is that it was a "stop off point for pilgrims" on their way to St Albans Abbey.HauntingsIt is said to be haunted by a priest who was tried and hanged in the building. Others say it is of a monk who hanged himself at the inn.

This a very well known Pub of renown in the local area. I have been using it for over 50 years. The current management provide an excellent range of well kept Real ales in a lovely cosy bar, warmed by hearty log fire during the winter months located in a wonderful Inglenook Fireplace. They provide catering of a high standard at reasonable prices. In the summer a Real Ale Festival has been held for the last few years and is a treat not to be missed, offering a huge selection of cask conditioned ales. Well worth a visit 🍺

It was great once again returning to this tranquil exquisite pub and enjoying once again a delicious mouth watering roast lunch on the Easter bank holiday. As bikers we have always been welcomed here and the ambiance both inside and out in the spacious garden area is absolutely fantastic. Once again the standard's of food and wine selection is highly impressive. A great end to the Easter bank holiday.

I don't like driving down country lanes, however, it was definitely worth it! A beautiful old building with a huge sit-in-it fireplace. Great for the winter months! Happy, helpful and well presented staff are always happy to help! Would recommend for a cosy evening with good company!
