I booked for my baby shower to be held here, I had originally booked for 28/ 30 guests. As the time drew closer my number dropped to 25 eating, including 1 child (26) arriving including a potential guest who would be popping in (27). This was explained on the phone. The child and unconfirmed guest wouldn't be eating afternoon tea but who's to say they wouldn't want refreshments. I was told on the phone this would be fine. I was also told that a choice of either cream or afternoon tea would be available to my group and to let them know in advance which they'd like along with dietary requirements. A couple of days passed and I had the total along with deposits for each choice. The party majority choose the cream tea and 6 choose full afternoon tea. Paid deposit to the lady.. no problem. I then receive a call a week before the booking that the people who have ordered cream tea had to leave after 1 hour and the remaining 6 were allowed 2 hours! You can imagine the upset this caused me knowing over half of my guests would have to leave just because they opted for a lighted tea! This was never explained to me when booking! After asking to speak to the manager we were granted 2 hours at the table. On the day only 24 seats were laid out the manager huffed and puffed after any request. Apparently Tewinbury didn't have enough chairs to give my guests even though they have the capacity to hold around 3 weddings at a time. Forcing us to ask another table to spare a chair for my guest to sit at eating on there laps! No additional tables were free even though I'd asked for a spare table to put my presents on (agreed on the phone). To make things worse a table of 6 next to us was a no show not once did the manager say to me we can include this to our overcrowded table area. The manager was rude and confrontational not just to me but to my guests. I'm 35 weeks pregnant, is this acceptable? In all the stress I must say the young chap serving us was an absolute super star and he was so accommodating. I don't know how I would have managed without him. The food was enjoyed by guests thankfully, although I couldn't relax to enjoy it fully. I will never eat here again and never recommend this restaurant to friends. In hindsight if you are planning on visiting please email Williams restaurant for confirmation of what was agreed, this would have helped me.

We visited this place for afternoon tea on my husband's birthday. Food, tea, service was great. Only con was size of the table. It was too small to accommodate 2 afternoon teas. Felt like eating on economy aircraft seats.

i went there for a meal with my partner and two sisters for a birthday meal, we hoped it would be special, to match the prizes, but sadly not, firstly we served by five people which was confusing when we needed anything for our table. the fish and chips lovely, but the burger in a bun, which the menu said bacon or cheese...with a set price..was not very nice at all by both our sisters agreed, and when we got the bill, we asked why we had been charged £2 extra........apparently the bacon or cheese meant you could only choose one, and as we had both it cost an extra £1 for a slice of bacon........not happy at all wont be going back and telling all my friends the same,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and the bill came to over £70

Awful service, waiter rude when they were confused about booking even though it was their problem, constantly huffed and puffed around me and made us feel uncomfortable!never seen anything like it! wrote to the manager who apologised and promised a free afternoon tea which never happened despite me giving all my details. I don't really mind about that part though as I never want to go back! I would avoid this restaurant, plenty of nice places to eat in the area who offer better service and value for money.

We ate here after our viewing of Tewin Bury Farm as a potential wedding venue - we booked one of their barns as our venue, and have returned to Williams several times since, just for a visit. The food is always lovely - well presented and of a god standard; from sandwiches to hot meals, and although the service was a little slower during busier periods, neither the standard of food or service suffered; and all delays came with great apology and explanation. See you at the weekend!
