Me and my wife have just returned home from a long weekend. We arrived early for check in Friday, about 4 hours. But no problem we was allowed in to our room which was a double executive. Large wardrobe, large bathroom with good shower over bath, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities. Check in was very pleasant, reception staff very helpful. 2 types of restaurants and staff very very friendly and helpful. Only one downfall a lack of electrical sockets only one spare. First night room was not over warm, reported to reception and as promised a temporary heater was delivered promised a temp to our room within 10 minutes. We will return soon for another short stay with no problem
I got a room at very short notice at a fantastic price. Was warned on booking that the room would not have a window. No problem for that price, and I was staying on business, so not actually spending much time in the room. I was warned again at check in, and then upgraded to a larger room with a view for free anyway. Check in was friendly and efficient, the decor in the room was no- thrills and a little dated so I only gave 3 stars but it was clean, had kettle, tea/coffee, ironing board, hair drier and everything I needed. I think WiFi was extra, but didn't need it. Very pleased with my stay, especially for the price in a very useful location for Canary Wharf. Walkability: Easy to walk to the Thames Path and all around the Isle of Dogs. Felt safe at all times.
Stayed while on a coach trip. After reading some of the previous reviews I was a little worried, however the room was very clean. Only issue was room was way too hot, after a request to reception someone came and opened the window for us. Food was good and breakfast nice. Due to my husband and daughter being picky eaters, we purchased from the onsite restaurant which served pizza, pasta and other food. My daughter simply want plain pasta which was prepared especially for her. Staff at the hotel very friendly, helpful, polite and professional.
Avoid this run-down and poorly-managed hotel at all costs! The hostel-priced hotel was one of the worst mistakes I've made as a traveler. The reduced fare is not worth the atrocious management. Our initial room had rubbish in the rubbish cans, a heavy window just barely secured with coffee stirrers through holes that once held a lock, a non-functioning AC unit that kept the room at 26*C, broken and scratched furniture, and a carpet that was last washed when there was only one Star Wars trilogy. We tried calling the front desk to ask for someone to help us with the AC but the phone was dead, so we went downstairs and asked for a change of room to one with working AC, only to be offered to have some staff open the window for us you know, removing the sticks. After threatening to ask for a refund we were offered a room upgrade, with the manager constantly reminding us how much more expensive this suite was than the one we had booked. The new room was bigger, so the still non-functioning AC was a bit more tolerable at 23*C, but we still had to ask for the window to be opened. That was a mistake because the DLR runs every 15 minutes really close to the property. The toilet had a faulty tank and a staff member had to show us how to jiggle and wiggle the lever to make it fill the tank after flushing. If you want towels or toilet paper you have to go and pick them up from the front desk yourself, as no amount of complaining will make housekeeping come to your room apparently something all guests painfully learn judging by the number of other guests/victims who were complaining every time we went there. Of course, a change of bedding was impossible during the whole week. On the bright side, it has a very convenient location. Everything else is terrible. It's not worth the low cost, for that money a good hostel would be an infinitely superior choice.
I liked this hotel for its economical price and its location. I booked a room with a view of the docks, but at first the receptionist settled my family on the first floor without a view, when I complained the manager moved us to a beautiful suite with a wonderful view at no extra charge. Liked the interiors and views Didn't like that windows don't open and don't do daily cleaning. Internet only at the reception Nearby activities: The restaurants, shopping and museums
Great location and efficient check in/out. Bar service and patio pleasant. Didn't try food etc. Booked last minute and took room with no windows in basement. Not bad but wall vibrates all the time - think aircon units are bolted to the outside. Not actually noisy but would choose better room if booked again. Enjoyed night view of Canary Wharf and ease of travel.
The location was great, the bed was comfortable. Our room had quite a lot of little damages. I loved how quick the bath filled although was unable to empty it as the plug suctioned too tight. One lift was out of order so going too and from our room could include a 20 minute wait. Staff were friendly but check in was a long process due to a long queue even 3 hours after check in time because staff checked ID and rooms were not already allocated. The noise from the tube also disturbed our sleep.
This looks very glitzy on entering, the staff are helpful but not over the top, the corridors leading to the rooms are dated & tatty as was the room. Patched up wallpaper which wasn't even the same colour, stained carpet, chipped skirting boards. The bed was comfortable with a quilt that just about fit the bed so not ideal. But for one night's stay it was ok. Breakfast was a choice of cereal, toast, cooked breakfast which was rubbery, croissants but not really as they were doughy & not very nice to eat. This could have been five stars if they just put in the effort with the rest of the hotel that they put into the foyer.
The stay there was absolutely terrible! The service was a disaster! The people at the counter were extremely rude!! The room doesn’t come with a safe. And they try to over charge you for everything in a very sneaky way. They charge you 7 pounds per device for one night for internet. They only let you check out at 10AM and they charge 10 pounds per hour for each additional hour. The rooms were freezing. When you ask for something as simple as a tooth brush they won’t help you. I would certainly advise not to go there, unless they fix this disaster.
Last weekend I stayed at The Britannia Hotel International and sadly it was the worst experience what I ever had in hotel. At first, when I made a booking for the room with no windows I didn’t expect to be located in basement. Website doesn’t say anywhere about that. Air conditioning doesn't work properly, temperature in a room was 34 degrees. Sink was blocked and toilet was leaking. I could probably understand this but above the sealing you could hear rats squeaking and running all night. First thing in the morning after that horror I went to inform staff, manger didn’t even act to be surprised that terrified me. Breakfast that was very poor. From old hard rock pastries for slimy mushrooms. I don’t even want to mention other food and cheap instant coffee. Avoid this place!!
